Today in 1970 "Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs" from Derek and the Dominos was released. Eric Clapton, Bobby Whitlock, Carl Radle and Jim Gordon comprised the band. Duane Allman's contributions to the iconic record were an integral part of its success as was Tom Dowd's incredible production. The first photo was taken by Ralph Basnight when Derek and the Dominos played Curtis Hixon Hall in Tampa, Florida on December 1, 1970. The next day the band played the Onondaga War Me...morial in Syracuse, New York, December 2, 1970 - the second photo was taken by one of the roadies at that show. Duane sat in at both shows, and they were the only shows he performed with Derek and the Dominos. The last photo of Eric Clapton and Duane was taken by Alan Pariser at Thunderbird Motel in Miami, Florida during recording sessions at Criteria Studios in late August 1970. Dig out your copy of "Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs" and PLAY IT LOUD! See more

Baron Wolman was a friend to The Big House Museum and to The Allman Brothers Band. He was one of the finest photographers in the business. We were very saddened to learn of his passing. R.I.P. Brother Baron. Photo: Baron Wolman 1969 at Redwal/Capricorn Studio Macon, GA
