Good morning! The Great UnEvent benefiting the Kids Cafe Program at Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia is truly one of our favorite events to be a part of. In these uncertain times, there is no greater cause than helping to end child hunger. Great news: this year, the Chef's Table auction event is being held online, and open to the public. Handcrafted in Jalisco, Mexico, Tequila Herradura uses an all-natural fermentation process to create its award-winning tequilas. Members of The Olde Pink House team travel to Herradura Castle to sample different tequilas, learn about the production process and select those varieties found in the Pink House's custom blend.

PLEASE MEET: RODNEY RICHARDS Title: Baker # of Years at The Olde Pink House: 5 Favorite Dish: Stuffed Grouper... Rodney Richards, a.k.a. Mr. Rodney, is the official baker at The Olde Pink House, but he’s best known as Savannah’s cheese straw guru. Mr. Rodney handcrafts up to 1,400 of the signature savory treats daily. Our cheese straws are addictive, he confesses. A lot of people from up North have never heard of cheese straws, but they’re a normal thing here in the South. The key to making them is using the right ingredients. The quality of the butter and the cheese really matters. Every morning, this North Carolina native arrives at the Pink House at 5 a.m. to prepare cheese straws, yeast rolls and cornbread for lunch and dinner guests. Mr. Rodney crafts everything from scratch, always baking with love, care and attention. Mr. Rodney started working in the kitchen at the age of 13 and prepared cuisine at award-winning country clubs across North Carolina before moving to Savannah in 2015 and taking his place as the Pink House’s lead baker. I’ve learned from a lot of great people over the years, he says. I like making things, and I love the people at The Olde Pink House. Everyone really gets along. It’s a great place.
