HERO OF THE WEEK! Congratulations SSG Craigory Gallion of C Company, 1st Battalion 81st Armored Regiment on being the 194th AR BDE Hero of the Week! 18 May 2021..., SSG Gallion displayed an act of heroism when he stopped an IET Soldier from committing suicide. While on break, SSG Gallion witnessed a Trainee climbing over the safety rail of the 8th Division Bridge in an attempt to jump. SSG Gallion rushed and grabbed him before the Soldier jumped. While suspended off of the bridge the Trainee attempted to fight away from him, but SSG Gallion continued to hold on to the Soldier until SFC Shafi and the commander arrived and assisted with pulling the Soldier back over the safety rail. 2-15 Lions Cover the Front, 5-15 CAV, 1st Battalion, 81st Armor Regiment, 30th Adjutant General Reception Battalion, The Fort Benning Recovery Center, OTD 1-81 AR BN, U.S. Army Armor School, United States Army Ordnance Corps, US Army Fort Benning, U.S. Army #army #armyprofessionalism

Another beautiful day at the range for Assassin Troop. Track 1 and 2 finally get to put concept into practice as they engage targets with the M242 Bushmaster ch...ain gun. Loading the ready boxes with linked 25mm rounds is a cumbersome exercise but watching the rounds fly down range to hit targets at approximately 2 kilometers (limited by the range) makes it all worth it. #19DOSUT #intheshadows #lionscoverthefront

For our 13th tank in the 25 Tanks of Christmas is.... the M47! The first acceptance of the 90mm Gun Tank M47 was June 1951. It was essentially the M46 fitte...d with the turret from the T42 tank prototype. Early tanks were armed with a 90mm gun featuring a single-baffle muzzle brake. While most M47s were produced with a cylindrical blast deflector, late tanks had a T-shaped blast deflector. The M47 was originally nicknamed Patton II but was changed a few weeks later to Patton 47. This tank would have been a medium tank under the previous designation system.
