Join Camp Jekyll, Tidelands, & Georgia 4-H as we celebrate the beauty of Georgia's estuaries while we enjoy a reading of the celebrated poet, Sidney Lanier and his poem, "The Marshes of Glynn". Our thanks and appreciation to Yank Moore and the Jekyll Island Authority Conservation Department for contributing the drone footage of the marsh. #Fromthemountainstothesea

Meet the sassiest lizard at our Jekyll 4-H facilities! This is Tad Cooper, the bearded dragon. As an omnivore, he likes to eat insects and loves his greens. Bearded dragons are native to Australia, but they are the third most popular pet after dogs and cats! If you visit Camp Jekyll make sure to ask how Tad is doing! #tidelands4hcenter #reptilesofinstagram #reptiles #lizards #beardeddragon #nomnom #notouchy #nature #jekyllisland

Watch your step! This friendly little fella was looking for a shady spot to hide under someone's foot. Fortunately our staff noticed their "passenger" before stepping down. Typically, this Mediterranean House Gecko (Hemidactylus turcicus) only comes out at night to hunt. These geckos are an invasive species that may have been a stowaway on a ship that travelled to the Florida Keys from Southern Europe or Northern Africa. Although there haven't been many studies on how these geckos affect the natural ecosystems, they don't seem to be doing very much harm. They like to hang out near outdoor lighting at night for an easy insect meal. #hitchhiker #invasivespecies #gecko #reptile #keen #tidelands4hcenter #wildlife #jekyllisland
