That awesome feeling when lab meeting is interrupted because one of your fabulous seniors just found out that she got into grad school! Congratulations Suzanne!
We were thrilled to welcome this sweet baby into the lab today; her mom got her PhD in our lab last summer! Baby C was very attentive and cooperative; I’m sure the bib helped.
We presented the results of our infant memory study at the International Congress on Infant Studies yesterday in Philadelphia. Scientists from around the world stopped by our poster to chat about the findings and offer their thoughts and insights. It has been an amazing conference full of exciting findings and great discoveries. Thank you all so much to everyone who supports the work we do in the Infant Lab. We have some great new projects coming down the road and we can’t wait to share them with you. #ICIS18
We are excited to be in Philadelphia to present the results of our memory study at the International Congress of Infant Studies! Thank you to all the five- and eight-month-old infant scientists who came in to contribute to that project. We have some exciting new things coming down the pike in the months to come; we look forward to sharing more about upcoming infant studies in the Athens area. Thank you all for your support of helping us learn more about how babies learn and grow.
Attention Athens-area families! Do you have a baby close to 5- or 8-months of age? Do they need to earn some diaper money? If so, please contact us about our latest study, which is looking at memory in babies. The study involves a short visit to UGA’s Psychology building (about 20 minutes total) during which your baby will watch pictures of faces and shapes on a screen. We have free parking, and childcare for siblings is available! Families receive a $20 Target or Walmart gift card as a thank you for your time. If you are interested, please email [email protected] (lab email), [email protected] (Dr. Janet Frick, lab director), or call 706-542-5258. Hope to see you!
We always love hearing about creative infant research taking place at other universities. In this article, our UGA Infant Lab director Dr. Janet Frick discusses a study by scientists at Brown University showing that babies are constantly learning complex rules about their environment.
This adorable 8 month old had a great time playing our memory game in the lab today. Do you have an aspiring scientist who would like to earn a little diaper money? We’d love to meet you!
Attention Athens-area families! Do you have a baby under 9 months old? Do they need a cushy summer job? If so, please contact us about our latest study, which is looking at memory in babies. We have free parking, and childcare for siblings is available! Families receive a $20 Target or Walmart gift card as a thank you for your time. We are at the Farmers Market this morning with chalk, coloring pages, and veggie stickers. Come see us!
We are very proud of Dr. Sarah Saint, who successfully defended her dissertation today! Thank you to all the families and kids who participated in her research!
Update: thank you so much for such a huge response to this post! We really appreciate everyone who has emailed or messaged or shared this post We will be working through the emails and messages we've gotten so far tomorrow AM, so please stay tuned if you haven't heard back from us yet! Attention Athens-area families! Do you have a child between the ages of 7 and 12? If so, please contact us about a study we are finishing up this month in collaboration with the UGA Visio...n Sciences Lab! Children receive a $20 Target or Walmart gift card at each visit (total of $40!) for participating in the study. The study involves two visits to the Psychology building (about 1.5-2 hours each) during which we test their cognitive and visual functioning. Weekend appointments and free parking next to the building are available! We are especially interested in picky eaters, so if your child doesn't eat much in the way of fruit/veggies that's a bonus for this study Eligibility criteria: Children must have been born "full term" (at least 37 weeks gestation) and not have any visual/sensory processing disorders (these would make the tasks too challenging to complete reliably). If you are interested, please email [email protected] or call 706-542-5258.
