Join us virtually on Oct. 28 for MFA Actor Robyn Accetta's thesis performance in Samuel Beckett's existential tragicomedy "Happy Days." Persistently optimisti...c Winnie ponders her life, routines, and relationships day in and day out, taking comfort in what she can while the earth beneath her swallows her slowly over the course of two acts. Equal parts humorous and heartbreaking, Winnie's trudge toward inevitability beautifully displays Beckett's pursuit of humanity's place in a vast, indifferent universe. Performances will be pay-what-you-can and run from Oct. 2830! ugatheatre.com/happydays

Opening Nov. 5, "Breathe" is a multimedia work being developed by alumna Angela Hall under the direction of former faculty member Dr. Freda Scott Giles as a pa...rt of University of Georgia's Spotlight on the Arts Festival. Through tweets, news articles, and first-hand accounts, "Breathe" contends with our current American moment focusing on social and political upheaval with an emphasis on action and good trouble. This unique experience will see its development influenced by both its writer and the cast, responding in real time to the events that surround us daily. Tickets for the live stream of "Breathe" will be available next week at live.ugatheatre.com #spotlightuga #UGA_Arts #theatre

The UGA Department of Theatre and Film Studies affirms its strong support for, allegiance with, and love of the Black members of our student, faculty, staff and alumni community. We condemn the horrific history of violence against African Americans in our country and state, including the recent the murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Ahmaud Arbery, among countless othersviolence that has often been perpetrated and enabled by governmental institutions and structures.... We renew our commitment to interrogating our assumptions and work; to dismantling racism and white supremacy in our own university and department; and to making the Department of Theatre and Film Studies a safe and equitable place for our Black colleaguesand all of our colleagues of colorto thrive in life and art. We invite your partnership in this work and welcome your candor in holding us accountable.
