Our Patient Care Coordinator Lyndsey did an amazing job on our Smaha Orthodontics Carving for the Cure pumpkin! The children at the Beverly Knight Olsen Children's Hospital will vote on October 28. The practices with the winning pumpkins will each have $200 donated to the hospital in their name. Great job Lyndsey!

Hello Walker Dental Group friends and family! We have implemented a new process for our Covid-19 screening. With the new system we will send you a text message prior to your appointment and we ask that you answer the questions and submit the form electronically back to our office. Once we receive the form we will come out and take your temperature then welcome you inside for your appointment. Our lobby is still closed at this time. We are working hard to get all the patients rescheduled from the time we were closed. In the coming weeks you will see a new face around the office at Walker Dental Group. Dr. Brian Mears will be helping us until Dr. Walker returns from his deployment. Dr. Mears graduated cum laude from the University of Georgia with a BS in Microbiology. He obtained his MS from Georgia College & State University. Dr. Mears graduated from the Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University with a dual degree DMD/MBA as a Hinman scholar. While at AU, Dr. Mears volunteered regu...larly at the Equality clinic that served Augusta’s indigent community. Dr. Mears also served on yearly, week-long mission trips outside of the country. Dr. Mears was elected into Omicron Kappa Upsilon (dental) and Beta Gamma Sigma (business) honor societies and awarded Senior achievement in periodontics upon his graduation. Dr. Mears is currently completing his specialty training in periodontics at the Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University. See more

Our Community has been through a lot ov...er the last few months, and all of us are looking forward to resuming our regular habits and routines. While many things have changed, one thing has remained the same: our commitment to your oral health. I wanted to give you an update on my status, the current state of my practice, and how we will continue to respond to the threat posed by COVID-19. In late March, I deployed with the Georgia Air National Guard in response to the COVID-19 Pandemic. I am thankful to be able to answer the call, and the overwhelming support of our state and nation is genuinely humbling. I am very proud and honored to be a part of the national response to defeat this virus. I wanted you all to know that I look forward to returning to my practice as soon as I complete my mission with the Georgia Air National Guard. Due to my absence, I coordinated with other dentists and specialists in our area to provide emergency care for my patients. My thoughts and prayers are with all our patients and families during this challenging time, and I look forward to seeing you all very soon! Infection control is and has been a top priority for our practice, and you may have seen this during your visits to our office. We utilize our infection control measures to ensure that when you receive care, it is both safe and comfortable. Given the recent crisis, we want to share some information regarding how we determine which infection control procedures we follow in our practice. Our office follows infection control recommendations made by the American Dental Association (ADA), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC), and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). We follow the activities of these agencies so that we are up-to-date on any new rulings or guidance that may be issued. We do this to make sure that our infection control procedures are current and adhere to each agencies’ recommendations. In conjunction with their guidance, you may see some changes during your next appointment. In the coming weeks, please watch for additional communications regarding the specific changes we are implementing to protect you and our staff for future dental appointments.
