Warrior Archery 18.05.2020

Everybody can shoot blank bale really well with good execution, and I’ve often talked about aiming not getting in the way of execution; I have said that you put... a target in front of some archers and their ability to execute goes totally out of the window. In that situation the archer has not understood what the full draw position is and often races through this position of full draw: the recurve archer who never settles into full draw, and is more interested in how they are going to make it go click, the compound shooter who is more interested in whether the dot is in the middle than if they have set the shot up right. So it is that mental toughness wil come from that serenity of being in the place that they want to be, i.e full draw with a total understanding that this position is solid believable/repeatable and that they can go forwards form this position with good execution. That is all that mental toughness is- the ability to shake off the doubts and fears that they may well have and allow the fantasticaly complex part of the shot, which is execution, to occur. I make no apologies for calling it fantastically complicated, because it is. To execute a shot cleanly while aiming at a target requires the archer to have set everything up in the way they want to and then just trust and allow their body to shoot the shot for them. It is that mix of technical skill and trust that mental toughness comes from. We have all seen archers stuck at full draw, unable to execute, that horrible lack of execution where we start to see their longrods moving, their bodies shaking, and it is like a road crash. Some of us have been in that situation before and start to take that fear of failure into every shot not allowing our technique to prevail. So mental toughness how do we develop and nurture it? It comes from trust, thousands of hours of practice, and it comes from the serene belief that what you have done, the platform you have set up is adequate to the task you are attempting.

Others had some difficulty this weekend, but kept a great attitude, your days are coming, Bri, Robert, and Bill. Let's keep up the good work, and keep those great attitudes on the course. It's not always about winning, but how we can affect those around us on our good days as well as our bad days, and how we can persevere through difficulties life can throw our way.

ARCHERY RESULTS POSTED BELOW!

Warrior Archery 25.10.2019

6 MINDSET PILLARS by Winning Mindsets: 1. Compete because YOU want to. Your happiness and well-being is more important than success. If your sport isn’t in your... heart, then try something else. Don’t do it for someone else, do what YOU love for YOU. 2. Focus on the process not the outcome. If you keep improving each day, wins and titles will take care of themselves. If you focus only on winning, you will be too preoccupied trying to not make mistakes which will result in losing. Focus on the process of winning instead. Do not worry about other athletes, but constantly look to perform at your very best. 3. Don't worry about what other people think. Focus on yourself and the lifestyle you want to lead. Many people get caught up with "people pleasing" and trying to impress family, friends, coaches and teammates. Focusing on making these other people happy distracts you from who is really important YOU! Plus, it adds unnecessary pressure on you. 4. Treat all competitions the same. Don't make any game or tournament special. A friendly scrimmage, a championship game, or a competitive practice drill should all be taken seriously to the same degree. Avoid treating bigger competitions any differently than you would treat a scrimmage. Messi said, Whether it’s a friendly match, or for points, or a final, or any game I play the same. 5. Control the things you can control. Don’t worry about the things you can’t control because it’ll frustrate you. Focus on the things you can control: EFFORT- 100% all the time winning or losing. ATTITUDE- positive and composed regardless of circumstances. EXECUTION- Be aggressive. Err on the side of being gutsy! 6. Forgive yourself quickly. Use mistakes as a learning experience and make sure to let yourself off the hook. Mistakes are inevitable, and the best way to forget about one is to make up for it in your next game But you can’t move forward if you’re still worried about the past. Spend at least 90% of your time on the solution (how to improve) and no more than 10% on the problem.

Warrior Archery 29.01.2019

One action can determine a large part of your life if it is not examined fully and completely. Here is part of an exercise called "Well Formed Outcomes". The s...econd part will be on Friday Be stated in the positive Everything starts with the big question and the most important question of life: what do you want? This question is valid for the whole life or for a very small event. Possibly this question has been asked more than any other question in the history of mankind. The big problem is also that most of people do not know what they want. When you wake up in the morning, the first question arises in your mind is what I do today? Where I go today? What I want to achieve today. Even if they are not asked consciously they pester your mind even if you do not respond to them. If you don’t know what you want, you don’t get anything or you may get what you don’t want to have. If you don’t know where you want to go, you may never go anywhere or you may end up where you didn’t want to go. If you do not have a plan of action for everyday you may not do anything or you may do something that you shouldn’t do. These are the questions that NLP developers reflected on for some time and realised that successful people always know what they want, they know where they go and they know what to do and how to do it. 2. Be capable of representation When you realise what you want, you have to know how you would know when you had it. In fact you must have a very clear picture of having it in your mind so that you know when you have it, it will look like the way you have figured it out. This is also a very important part in NLP as it would use your sensory systems to figure out the whole process and the end result. 3. Be possible and achievable You have to make sure that what you want is possible and achievable so that you cannot go after things that are not within the framework of your capabilities although you may never know how much capabilities you have. Most of the people do not know their capabilities. That is the reason that they do not go for bold actions. NLP gives you confidence that you can develop unimaginable capabilities for achieving outstanding results even if you may think that they are not possible at the beginning. The important thing is what ever the goal is, you must believe that it is achievable and possible even if other people tell you that you cannot do it or it is not possible because when other people say something like that, they talk about their own limitations and not your capabilities. NLP is about unleashing your capabilities. There are major differences between NLP goal setting, NLP well formed outcome and wishful thinking. Wishful thinking is what most people do during the day and the life. They wish that they had this and that without turning that wish into a goal and taking the goal through the process of the well-formed outcome. Remember that the goals have outcomes. And outcomes are intended or unintended. The goal setting becomes more realisable when it is conducted through the process of well-formed outcomes.
