Thanks to everyone who came out for the first market of 2021! It looks like the weather will be a little kinder to us this weekend. This week will be the last week for the wonderful Georgia grown satsuma oranges. They are delectable, so be sure to stock up! It will also be the last week to get Pecans for a little while as well! We’re also excited to introduce our newest prepared food vendor! Maria Fernandez (Restaurante el Aguila) is now offering tamales and pupusas at the m...arket! We have a variety of winter produce available this week as well. While the produce sometimes gets less familiar during the winter months, this is a great time to try something new! There are so many gorgeous greens available right now, snag some and try a new recipe this week! While in some ways this year has crawled by, this market season seems to have gone by in flash! This is your final week to enjoy all of your favorite WBFM products! We will be having the online AND an in-person market this week! The online market will be happening as it has each week since May, no changes, still all the same wonderful products and easy drive thru pick up! The in person market will be on Saturday as well, at the Athens Housing Authority, but on the other side of the building from where the online market pick up happens! No market this week! Since it is a long weekend, we are giving our vendors the week off. Hopefully this will allow them all to recharge and replenish their market offerings! Hey WBFM Shoppers! We hope everyone has had a wonderful weekend. All of a sudden, Athens is feeling very busy again! While we wish we felt like it was safe and responsible to open back up the regular market in addition to the online, it is just not time yet. We did survive our first pick-up with the threat of rain, and it worked out just fine - so that was good to learn! We have some fall teasers coming to the market this week! While we are probably still a few weeks out fr...om a full fall bounty, we’re very excited to see Delicata Squash, Butternut Squash, Red and Green Pears, and Yellow Apples all new to the market this week! The squash would be the perfect precursor to Ms. Fambrough's Sweet Potato Crunch Pie, and do not forget $1 of each of her Lemon Puff Cookie sales go towards the Marissa Joyner Scholarship Fund! We have a wide variety of beautiful house plants and succulents to brighten up your at home work space! This past week we oversold on quite a few items, so if you want to make sure you get Okra, Sweet Potatoes, or any of our other amazing products, be sure to order early! If vendors sell more than they are able to supply(which we try to avoid) orders will be filled based on who ordered first! So the earlier you get your order in the better! This week's vendor spotlight goes to Cuppulents! These cute succulents in a cup are made by Tumelo Johnson, who is WBFM's youngest vendor. Each costs just $8 and is one of a kind. This week’s vendor spotlight is Buffalo Creek Berry Farm GA! This family farm produces blueberries, blackberries, and strawberries in addition to jams, vinegars, soaps, and herbal salves. Buffalo Creek Berry Farm has been producing berries in Lexington, Georgia since 2005, opening for operations in 2009. Current owners Cameron Phillips and Laura Pallas have run the farm since 2017. Juneteenth is the oldest national celebration of the emancipation of slaves in the United States. The West Broad Farmers Market’s Juneteenth Festival is a day to celebrate African-American freedom and achievement. In previous years, the celebration at the market would include guest speakers, historians, dancing, musical performances, poetry, workshops, and photo and art exhibits that reflect African-American history and culture. While we cannot celebrate in person this year, ...recognizing Juneteenth is more important now than ever as we experience a worldwide reckoning of how systemic racism continues to plague our society and systems of oppression continue to hurt Black Americans. We encourage everyone to use Juneteenth as a day of reflection on how far we have come and why it’s important that we keep going. We look forward to many more Juneteenth celebrations with the community in the years to come. See more

Love.Craft Athens is a non-profit organization that serves adults with developmental disabilities. Their mission is to empower this population through the creation of art, and inclusion in special events. Owned and operated by Charlie (astronomer) and Amelia (microbiologist), Night Sky Coffee began as a journey for the perfect cup of coffee and a gateway to engage with the community. They’ve been roasting coffee for five years and in 2019 they began their business with an emphasis on social responsibility.
