Milledgeville pedestrian safety change... As you’ve noticed, the equipment and look of Hancock Street/Clarke Street at main Georgia College campus is not the s...ame. MAJOR to follow... Push the PED call buttons at the new Ped Hybrid signal that replaced the old just walk across anytime crosswalk. The signal rules PED and vehicles now. wait patiently for the signal to move across. Drivers: When you see the red light above...STOP. Once that light flashes, you may move past if no walkers are present. You ARE NOT required to stop for peds when the signal is dark. A lot of people are still doing the old way. We’ve discussed the Ped Scramble at the Hancock/Clarke intersection. No right turns on Red now signed. Peds press the button and be patient. When signaled, you can walk across the center diagonally & any of the four crosswalks. Teaser...GDOT approved a permit allowing the college to install the same Ped Hybrid Beacon at the Montgomery/Liberty Street crosswalk on the opposite side! Given major delays on pole equipment, this will be up and running by April 2021 (tentative). #pedestrian #safetyfirst #trafficengineering #trafficsignal #georgiacollege #milledgeville #gdot
