Women's Medical Center is proud to deliver babies at Piedmont Fayette Hospital which was recently named one of the 2020 Best Maternity Hospitals by Newsweek magazine. We appreciate the dedication to safety for mothers and babies that Piedmont Fayette Hospital requires! https://www.newsweek.com/best-maternity-care-hospitals-2020

Women's Medical Center was notified today, that we will not be receiving our 2nd doses this week for patients we vaccinated on January 14th and January 15th. The Department of Public Health is encouraging those who do not wish to wait for Women's Medical Center to receive more vaccine to look into other sites such as Kroger and Publix. Per the CDC, you may get your 2nd dose up to 42 days after the first dose. This is February 25 and 26 for those vaccinated January 14 and 15th respectively. All doses we administered are recorded in GRITS for any sites that need proof of 1st dose. We share your frustration and disappointment. If and when we get doses, we will reach out to those we vaccinated and offer the 2nd dose. But if you are able to get a vaccine appointment elsewhere for your 2nd dose, we encourage you to do so.

At this time, we are closing our sign up list for first doses of the Covid 19 vaccine. For the 3rd week in a row, we have not received any doses meant to be given to those needing the first of 2 vaccines. We share in the frustrations of our community as we were willing to donate our time and resources into vaccinating as many eligible people as possible. As the state makes plans for mass vaccination sites, smaller sites like private physician offices find themselves getti...ng fewer and fewer vaccines. If we get notice that we will get more first doses, we will notify those on our list, but in the mean time, if you are a part of Category 1A and you are able to get a vaccine appointment elsewhere, we encourage you to take that appointment. For those who are due for their 2nd vaccine this week, if we do not get a shipment of vaccines by Wednesday, we will reach out to you and let you know. Last week, the CDC stated that doses of Moderna could be as far as 42 days apart. Please know that Women’s Medical Center is committed to vaccinating as many eligible persons as we can. We share your frustrations and know this is disappointing. Please know that we are willing to do as many vaccines as we can, but until we receive doses from the Department of Public Health, our hands are tied. See more

We learn more and more about Covid 19 and the effects on pregnancy as more women contract the illness. We encourage those who are pregnant, or recently pregnant, who have known or suspected Covid infection, to enroll in the research study underway by UC San Diego called Mother to Baby Pregnancy Studies. There is no cost to those who enroll and it only requires 1-3 phone calls through the course of the pregnancy and 1 call after delivery. Those wishing to enroll can call 1-877-311-8972 or visit MotherToBaby.org/join-study The more we learn about Covid 19 and pregnancy, the better care we can provide!

Fayette County seems to be on the verge of a COVID Surge. Be careful out there! Wear your masks, socially distance, wash your hands and shrink those pods to as small as you can stand. Take care of yourselves, take care of our community.

As a reminder, at this time, we are not allowing any visitors in our office except in the following instances: o At the initial pregnancy visit o Anatomy ultrasound, usually done at 18-20 weeks of pregnancy o Patients who are minors... o Patients who are incapacitated o Where the clinical situation warrants We understand that this is upsetting to many. However, we are diligently trying to keep our staff, providers, and patients as safe as possible. We daily monitor information from the Centers for Disease Control and Piedmont’s Infection Control team. Recommendations change as the infectious disease experts learn more about Covid 19. We remain committed to providing a safe office space. Please join with us in this effort by wearing a mask in our office, practice social distancing, and washing your hands frequently.

Proud to be part of the work that got Piedmont Fayette Hospital on this list.

Women's Medical Center 30.08.2020

Given the surge of patients admitted to Piedmont Fayette Hospital with Covid 19, effective Monday, July 13, Women's Medical Center will not allow visitors with patients in our office. We understand that pregnancy presents unique concerns, therefore, we will allow 1 support person in the exam room for the first prenatal appointment and the anatomy ultrasound which is usually done at 18 weeks of pregnancy. Your 1 support person should remain outside of our office and once th...e patient is in an exam room, we will call for the support person to enter. Minors and patients who are incapacitated may have 1 support person throughout their visit. Piedmont Fayette Hospital remains on Level 4 visitation which means there are no visitors allowed. Those patients admitted to Labor and Delivery may have 1 support person through their stay, but that support person is not allowed to switch out with other visitors. We remain committed to preserving the health of our patients, staff, and providers. This decision was made with great forethought and concern for our community as a whole. We appreciate your support and understanding.

Women’s Medical Center is allowing 1 visitor to accompany each patient to their appointment. The visitor should remain in the car as the patient checks in. When the patient is in the exam room, we will call the visitor to come in. A health screening, including temperature check, will be performed on each person entering the office and everyone must wear a mask during the entire visit. As the patient leaves the exam room, the visitor should leave the office and return to their car. The patient will complete any needed lab work and check out. We remain committed to practicing social distancing and appreciate your cooperation!
