Woodbine Opry Saturday Nights 14.12.2020

I know that we have made a lot of plans and preparations for the remainder of the month, but please be advised that The Woodbine Opry has been cancelled for the remainder of this year. We have knowledge of a covid 19 outbreak amongst our audience and bandmembers since last night. To keep all as safe as possible Tim and Robert made the decision to suspend all programs till the first of the year. If you were at either show please be tested as soon as you can. Hopefully the incidents effect will be minimal. Notify others that do not have access to this page of our decision. It's hard to fight an enemy you can't see but we trust our Father to keep all safe. Any futher developments will be posted when received. RAY SUTTON

And the Woodbine Opry Band plays on. That should be my last sentence this week, but hold the door. With the temporary absence of JC and Aubrey and the addition of two of our favorite guest, Gene Howard and Rick Fryefield, The Woodbine Opry Band played on. The quality of music and song they all came together on was fantastic and timely. A very much thankful audience received the best show that comes about because of the dedication and determination from the gift each musi...cian has. It just all comes together. Thank you to everyone involved. We have more upcoming fun to finish out the year. On December the 18th and 19th there will be a very special Blue Ticket Mystery Prize drawing. Two giant stockings are being filled with all sort of gifts and will be drawn on the Friday night show and one for the Saturday night show. We are asking everyone to contribute items the next two weeks and it should be a blast. We also are asking everyone to purchase the red tickets for the 50 50 each night to help close out the financial year for our Old School Committee on a positive side. We will, as much as possible, try to reopen the snack room, gift shop and thrift store on the first of the year. The Christmas schedule has been decided. With Christmas on Friday the Friday night show and the Saturday night show will be closed and resume the following week. I know both nights need a break and time with family is very important. Please let others know. The whole Woodbine Opry is a complete combination of The Old School Committee, The Woodbine Opry Band, The Woodbine Opry Friday night and The Woodbine Opry Family. Folks working together to preserve the music and history of our predecessors and to keep it alive and available to all. Come be with us and be a part of us. See more

We have received word that another night of Saturday Opry music will include one of my and your favorite singers, Mr Rick Fryefield. He also will lend a hand on drums and his songs are classics. Joe will be on the drums for the show and Rick will play during his sets. Aubrey is out with the funeral for his son in law. We wish them well. All the other guys, including JC, James, Gene and Robert are ready to let it fly. Don't miss out.

Woodbine Opry Saturday Nights 05.11.2020

Happy November as we now head toward the end of the craziest year ever. And more can happen and probably will. No.problem, we know the One Who has all things ready to be revealed in the last day. Halloween was a hoot, or better yet, a lot of howling. Who let them dogs out! All present last night were ready to have a good time and were not disappointed. Good music from our guys and just too much laughter, even Bones McCoy played a number. Doris did take his temperat...ure and said it was lower than expected. Most skeletons are like that. The 50 50 was very good and the Blue Ticket and grab bags were a lot of fun. If I remember correctly, and at our age that is a challenge, Gene Howard will be back with us doing all his great music. Plan on being at the greatest Opry outside of Nashville, The Woodbine Opry Saturday nights. Don't miss a good time. OPRY ON! See more

Woodbine Opry Saturday Nights 05.11.2020

First frost for us in Northeast Florida and it was very heavy and the folks around Woodbine were somewhat colder than here. We will make sure that it is warm and cozy for everyone at the Opry this coming Saturday night, if needed. Can't predict the weather even though the local weather people think otherwise. Only profession I know of that you still get paid for being wrong and do not have to own up to your miscalculation s. We, however, do calculate that barring any unk...nown problems will have a very good show for your listening and dancing pleasure. Gene Howard is back with us and with so many good songs from him and our Opry Band you just can't miss the fun and friendship that awaits you. December will pass quickly and another year begins, but let's enjoy our Saturdays together and keep telling others about the live broadcast on our facebook page each Saturday night. Be safe and kind to all and hope to see you this Saturday night. See more

You may hear strange sounds and see weird sights this Saturday night, or you may sound strange, act strange and look really strange yourself. If that is the case than you will be in the right place. Once each year the Saturday night Opry becomes the mad house of Camden County Georgia. Put on your real self look and come on down or if you are on a broom you can fly on up. It will be a fun night and the guys will really haunt you with their music. 50 50 tickets will be on sale and the Blue Ticket Mystery Prize is also up for grabs. Join us at the Old School House or view the program on our facebook page live. No admission charge and the doors open at 7 pm. Can't wait to laugh.

Woodbine Opry Saturday Nights 29.10.2020

The excitement level last night was really high from the very start. We knew we had some great talent and the proof of that was revealed from start to finish. JC led off with his crooning several songs as only he can do. Then Aubrey's songs were better than a chocolate milkshake from Ritters. Behold, out comes Elvis, and the place goes bananas. Young Braxton Sykes has his performance tuned to a tee and gives it all to us. Next Joe keeps it going with flashes from the ...past and Major James nails it with old pop music we all love. Now a surprise. Without rehearsal for her are the band, Dana Myers appears and puts on a show of pure country music we could hardly believe. This was her first time ever on our stage, so unexpected but so appreciated. Surely this was one of our best shows ever and having Tony Cason playing on lead guitar behind all these songs was icing on the cake. Thanks to all our talented musicians and singers. Not every show is the same but the efforts put forth by The Woodbine Opry Saturday Night makes it happen. Hats off to Robert Mccullers for his steadfast ways of bringing together the talent we get to enjoy. Also thanks to all who help each show in every capacity to make it happen. My personal thanks to Cricket for all the wonderful photos each week she takes. That takes a lot off of my shoulders. Thank you John Hamilton for giving your 50 50 pot winnings to Dana and Braxton. That's the kind of things that happens at the Opry. Good people, always sharing with appreciation. Enjoy the video and photos and share them with others. Have a blessed week and OPRY ON! See more

Fun, fun, fun. The whole night long. Great music and song from musicians who alway play, to also have fun. Our guys are the best around and give freely to their Woodbine Opry Saturday night family. The video part went very well and was received by many of our Woodbine Family in their homes. Thank you to all our volunteers who had a part in the support and undertaken. This week we get ready for Halloween night at the Opry. The get ups will be very funny and entertaining and it is no telling who will show up in disguise. Woodbine Opry Saturday Nights 10.10.2020

Looks like the Nor'easter is hanging around. It probably wants to come to the "Woodbine Opry Saturday night ". We plan on having a good time with music and friends. The songs that are on the guy's list are just what you would have played on the old jukebox years ago. I miss them, especially the ones that were a nickel for each song or 6 for a quarter. Some of the old Drug Stores had small tables set up for the fountain service and would let you dance while you also sha...red a cherry coke with your best girl. That's the music for this Saturday night minus the cherry coke. We do have a mini snack area for your snack needs and a gift shop area that you can purchase Woodbine Opry theme items. Plan on being with your Opry Friends and plan on having a very good time. Air time for the live Facebook broadcast is 7 and if you can't come in person we will see you over the airwaves. OPRY ON! Woodbine Opry Saturday Nights 28.09.2020

The end of the cow story was settled last night when Robert said the car is a lost, the cow was taken away by persons unknown and Goldie is shopping for a pink Cadillac. BTW, nobody owned the cow. Life's events come suddenly and they, many times, contain humor we all enjoy. That certainly happens at each Saturday night Opry show. Fun for all and a lot of laughter. We were honored last night with Tony Cason playing a great lead guitar and teaming him up with Dave Hess ...and Robert gave us a sound of unequaled quality. James certainly gave them the best bass ryhthm to attach to and Joe on the drums paced the night perfectly. The ryhthm twins, JC and Aubrey, made it all smooth. The vocals were outstanding and well balanced. Folks, we got to take real good care of our Opry Band. They could play in any place and , being volunteers , it goes without saying, they are priceless. Thank you to all our volunteers that help out each show to make it happen. Our live audience on Facebook was over 1200 people last night and all the on-screen comments tells us of how well received the telecasts are each show. The Halloween night show is in the planning stage and will be a whole lot of fun. The 50 50 and Blue Ticket Mystery Prize went well again and we are looking to make them both even more better. Keep your eyes on the current covid conditions and, hopefully, they will decrease which should allow us to increase our audience size. Either way, the show will go on. Have a blessed week, be kind, and OPRY ON! . See more

Woodbine Opry Saturday Nights 02.09.2020

I thought it best to put the Thursday blog out tonight rather than tomorrow. We will be on the road for most of the day driving back from Dawne's hometown here in Tennessee. We have had a lot of southern fun and met so many sweet and friendly people that remind us both of our Woodbine Opry Family. The mountain foliage is beautiful and loud. Home is where the heart is, so home we go. Our guys are preparing for us a very good show for this coming Saturday night . All ...great songs from past years to stir your memory and pull your mind back to days of long ago. We still check all temperatures and require mask until you are seated. Please social distance for safety and ,also, try to limit our dance floor to no more than six couples at a time. Doors open at six and the music starts at 7. Facebook live will air at 7 also. Hope to see you Saturday night. Ray Sutton

Woodbine Opry Saturday Nights 24.08.2020

On the road to Tennessee this morning and stopping at the Barrel for eggs. Last night was really good in all aspects. Great playing by the guys with really old country songs all night. 50 50 was very good and thanks to all who purchase tickets for the 50 50 and also the Blue Ticket Mystery Prize. I've got to tell this story. On the way home last night Robert and Goldie hit a "big " cow and, substantially damaged the car. It was determined that the car was still oper...ational and after the police finished the two limped the car home. Both are ok and Goldie said we may have fresh steaks soon and, for her, a pink Cadillac. Glad all went well. It happened on US17 at Kinlaw. Somebodies cow has got them in big trouble. We'll see how it goes. Otherwise, have a good week and plan on joining us at "THE WOODBINE SATURDAY NIGHT OPRY". See more

Woodbine Opry Saturday Nights 06.08.2020

I now have the lineup for our Saturday night show for October 10th. Mr versatile, Dave Hess. Is bringing his many years of lead guitar back to our stage for another night of just plain good old music. I browsed all the song list that our guys submitted and it will be non stop fun for all. The 50 50 is very healthy and has seen multiple winners over the past 6 weeks. We started the Blue Ticket Mystery Prize and those tickets are 1 dollar each and 3 for 2 dollars. Also av...ailable to all is our mini snack bar and gift shop for you to buy sodas, candy and such. The gift shop articles are Woodbine Opry theme and numerous. We continue to broadcast on Facebook live starting at about 7pm and try to give you, at home ,an opportunity to see and hear the very best in old fashioned music, and we appreciate you as members of our complete audience. The show is being beamed on FM radio 87.9 in the area close to the auditorium and can be heard very clearly. We hope many can come and be a part of the Woodbine Opry Saturday nights family. See you there. OPRY ON! See more

Woodbine Opry Saturday Nights 30.07.2020

If my computer stays together and doesn't get thrown out the window I should be able to finish this weeks blog. Between the smart phone, I call it smart something else, and the A.I. computer we tend to believe that they really are smart. Then I'm reminded that man makes them and that takes care of either having any intelligence. But it's what we have now. Our show Saturday night was , again, very good and thank you to Gene Howard for being our guest player. JC and Aubrey... and James and Joe and Robert all did an excellent job helping him. (they will get onto me for that) All the songs were top notch and well performed. The 50 50 was very good indeed and the new Blue Ticket Mystery Prize is catching on fast. We come to have fun from the stage to the hallway and all seem well pleased with the program. Each week we see old friends returning from months of covid restrictions and look forward to a complete re-gathering of all our Opry Friends. Plan on being with us soon. Plans are being made for the Halloween show which is on Halloween night October 31. We should see a lot of get-ups and the fun level will be high. Be kind to all and OPRY ON! See more
