Lest We Forget! They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning... We will remember them. See more
5th November each year people across the UK celebrate Bonfire Night with sparklers, fireworks, bonfires, toffee apples, jacket potatoes and of course, good old fish ‘n chips. The reason is because it’s the anniversary of capturing Guy Fawkes and a group of people who had plotted to blow up the Houses of Parliament back in 1605.

Wright’s are on board supporting the Royal British Legion with the annual November Poppy Appeal. 100% proceeds of all donations naturally go directly to the Royal British Legion. We have paper poppies, silk poppies, scarves and car poppies. Join us in the month of Remembrance today!
When we grew up in the UK pumpkins were not readily available. We carved out a swede (rutabaga), added a candle and some string (twine) and set off on our merry way to trick or treat our neighbour’s. Our costumes were restricted to witches, skeletons or ghosts. Our loot were a few pennies, maybe a homemade small cake or a few sweeties (candies). I can still smell that burning Halloween swede !!!
Did you know?.. During the D-Day landings, British soldiers identified one another by calling the word fish. The response, signifying an ally, was chips.
