On 18 May 2021 the Georgia Association of Convention and Visitors Bureaus (GACVB) presented the new Georgia WWII Heritage Trail with a TravelBlazers Award at their annual conference in Savannah. Jay Markwalter, GACVB Executive Director said, "This tourism award recognizes a variety of new destination attractions and innovative ideas that have resulted from the creativity, passion and teamwork of community leaders from various city, county, travel and business/industry sector...s. These new projects make a significant impact on the economic development of the community and enhance the vitality of a region." The WWII Flight Training Museum in Douglas is proud to be part of the Georgia WWII Heritage Trail. We are honored by the recognition the Trail has received. There is a Trail site within a two-hour drive from almost everywhere in Georgia. Yours is just minutes away. Make the WWII Flight Training Museum your first stop on the Trail.
