It is our sad duty to report the passing of Illustrious Sir J.J. Moore. On Sunday, September 20th, 2020. Jimmie Joe Moore, loving husband, father of three, grandfather of four, and great grand-father of seven, passed away at eighty-two. Jimmie was born in 1938 in Clovis, New Mexico. Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Marjorie Parkey. His Step-Parents W.W. and Lenora Moore, and is survived by his wife, Peggy Moore; his children, Tonja Sysk, J.T. Moore and hi...s wife Angie; Kimmie Elliott. His sisters Starla Dexter and her husband Craig from Phoenix, Arizona; Sandy Farrell and her husband John from Hobbs, New Mexico. His cousin Renne Elam and her husband Jim from Claremore,Oklahoma. His grandchildren, Jason Sysk(Michelle), Katie Caldwell(Joshua), Kori Garrison(Brandon), and Jacob Elliott. His great-grandchildren, Clayten, Skyler, Makayla, Colemon, Kaylee, Ryleigh, and Colt. After graduation from High School in 1957, he joined the military in the 101st Airborne Division, where he served two tours in Vietnam from 1965-1966 and 1969-1970. After returning from Vietnam, he was assigned to the Special Forces Group, after that he served with the CID being assigned to the DEA Taskforce in Atlanta where he served until 1977 when he retired from active service with twenty-one years of service. From 1987 to 2003, he helped Georgia State University with their ROTC program which he took great pride in. In 1990, he started the Georgia State ROTC Scholarship Golf Tournament. On October 13th, 1961, he married Peggy Ann Moore, and they raised three children Tonja, John (J.T.), and Kimmie. He was a decorated veteran receiving Three Bronze Stars, Two Purple Hearts, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, several air medals. Four army commendations medals, and many other military awards. He also had a decorated civilian life dedicating his life to service through the Shriners, where he was elected president of the South Fulton Shrine Club in 1991 and Potentate YAARAB Shrine in 2001. Jimmie also served as the Director of the Royal Order of Jesters in 2005 and was appointed to the Royal Order of Scotland. He was also appointed Master of the College Park Lodge in 2012. One of his proudest accomplishments was being selected to the Scottish Rite 33rd Degree, where he was received in 2011 in Washington DC. Jimmie also had a great passion for golf, dedicating himself to the game and often watching tournaments on T.V. with his family. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, September 23rd at 11 in the morning, the funeral will be held at Parrott Funeral Home with Minister Eddie Bowen Officiating. Those wishing may sign the online guestbook at www.parrottfuneralhome.com. The family will receive friends Tuesday Evening from 5 until 7 pm at Parrott Funeral Home and Crematory. You can contact the funeral home at 770-964-4800. In lieu of flowers, Jimmie asked for donations to the Shriners Hospital for Children.

Noble Don Malcom passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday August 23, 2020, at the age of 84. Don was born in Coles County, Illinois on November 27, 1935 to Emery and Elsie Malcom. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ruth Ann Acord Malcom, and his two children Donna Malcom and James Malcom (Amy) and his three grandchildren Anna, Emma and Donald (Trey) Malcom. Don attended Charleston High School, Eastern Illinois University for undergraduate studies and performed his... graduate work at Southern Illinois University. Upon graduation, Don began his professional career in public accounting, moved onto private industry and later in life became an entrepreneur by creating and selling a very successful payphone vending business. Don was a long-term member of Snellville United Methodist Church where he served on the Board of Trustees culminating in his election to the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Chairman of Primetimers, and Co-Chairman of WHO and was a member of the Friendship Sunday School class. He was very active in both Masons and Shriners. In the Shriners, he was members of Yaarab Shrine, Loganville and Tri County Shrine Clubs and held the several positions including Chairman of the Raffle Committee, he won the Gold Merit Award and is the only Yaarab Shriner to win The Emeritus Award three times. A private service will be held at Snellville United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Snellville United Methodist Church Building Fund, 2428 Main St. Snellville, GA 30078 or Shriners Hospital for Children Greenville, Office of Development, 950 West Fairs Road, Greenville, SC 29605-4277.

MESSAGE FROM YAARAB'S FIRST LADY: It is great to be a part of the best Shrine center in the world; Yaarab Shrine. Due to the pandemic, we have just now received the First Lady’s Charms and necklace pendants. They can be purchased from the front office or from any of the Divan ladies. They are $20 for the set. We also have a Kid Rock autographed guitar that we are raffling. The tickets are $20 a piece or six for $100. The drawing will be September 12th. We also still have a fe...w of McKenzie’s pins and charm sets left that are $20. All the money raised from these three projects will go towards the completion of McKenzie’s Kids Room project. I want to thank everyone for everything you have done this year for Yaarab Shrine and all of the tremendous support you have given Bruce and I. We love you all and hope to see you soon!
