Zeigler House Inn an "Historic Bed and Breakfast"

It is with sad hearts that we share with you that Jacqueline Jackie Lynn Hackworth Heinz, 61, died Saturday afternoon, February 16, 2019, at her home in Savannah, surrounded by family and her dear friend, Diane Crews. Jackie waged her heroic battle against cancer for well over twenty-five years. Friends call her a Steel Magnolia. She exemplified a Kentucky-born daughter of the classic American south a devoted mother to Kristopher and Jack, faithful wife to Kim, cherish...ed daughter to June and William Hackworth, doting grandmother to Liam, and loyal friend. Jackie earned a reputation of extraordinary personal kindness, inspiring others with her graceful style, personal beauty, ingenuity, and quiet generosity. Without preaching, she modeled love one another, most often putting others first. Early careers included dental technician, special events caterer, and golf shop owner. To thousands of strangers Jackie extended friend-of-the-family-style welcomes to her story-rich bed and breakfast home, located on world-famous Jones Street in the Savannah Landmark Historic District. Her top-tier recommendations of what to do and see, and her gourmet home cooking were worth the trip to one of America’s most beautiful cities! Amazing in-room breakfasts, dressed-up coffees, ice tea and lemonade with fruited syrups, and pre-dinner hors d’oeuvres transformed a weekday or weekend getaway into a memorable holiday. After twelve years of inn ownership, in June 2017 Jackie and Kim sold Zeigler House Inn to focus more attention to her health. Jackie delivered more than anticipated also in her personal efforts to promote women’s cancer cures and Savannah tourism, to support the arts, and to honor USA military service men and women and first responders. You are invited to remember Jackie with a donation to Susan G. Komen For the Cure in her honor. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. When confirmed we will share that information.

Dear Friends This Christmas 2018 greeting is an invitation to share your holiday cheer. Jackie Heinz is mightily fighting the cancer beast, again! True to form, and as expected, Jackie is exhibiting her Steel Magnolia, fighting spirit with laughter and stories ... between naps and telling Jack and Kris what to do. Entertaining, however, can be exhausting so visitors are primarily family right now. ... She has agreed for me to post an upbeat note here ... with the thought that each of you would want to share with her your can-do holiday messages, and your gift of stories ... perhaps your fondest memories with her at Zeigler House. May your Christmas, too, be filled with love.
