As Atlanta Technical College celebrates Women's History Month, we will showcase a trailblazer who made changes in the world for the betterment of women. Today, we honor the life of politician and educator Shirley Chisholm (1924-2005). Mrs. Chislom was the first black woman elected to the US Congress, and became the first African-American and first Woman candidate for President during the 1972 election, running as a Democrat. Despite the hardships she endured, she opened doors for future candidates such as current Vice President Kamala Harris.
