Overjoyed to introduce you to our new Development Manager! Josh Whitehead (they/them) is a North Carolina Native and graduate from NC State University. With a degree in Religious Studies, a passion for volunteering and a lifetime of Scouting experience, Josh always knew that they wanted to work in non-profit. In 2017, they were offered an opportunity to serve as District Executive with the Baltimore Area Council, Boy Scouts of America. Josh served in that position for thre...e years, managing thousands of volunteers and programs for an even larger number of youth. Josh was responsible for events and fundraising campaigns for hundreds of thousands of dollars each year. They learned many valuable lessons about fundraising during that time, but none resonated more than this: People will always support causes that they care about. And frankly, it is easier to sell something that you are passionate about. Josh loves to entertain and be entertained! They were the lead in three musicals in high school, blossoming a love for theatre. In college, they explored improv comedy, creative writing and script writing. Since then, they have begun doing stand-up comedy (and looking forward to seeing the comedy clubs in Atlanta). In Josh's spare time, they enjoy board games and Dungeons & Dragons. Josh and their partner, Catie, have two cats, Oates and Charlie, and an enormous St. Bernard named Fitzsimmons. You can contact Josh via email at [email protected] Welcome to the AWP Family Josh!

NEW TEACHER ANNOUNCEMENT! We are THRILLED to bring AWP alum Bree Shannon onto the teaching staff at AWP! She will be teaching the Saturday Acting Essentials (11am-12pm) and On-Camera Acting (12-1:30pm) classes! www.AtlantaWorkshopPlayers.com/classes... BIO: Bree Shannon is an alumnae of the Atlanta Workshop Players and the amazing, life-changing, impactful AWP Tour Company. With over 20 years of entertainment experience, she recently retired from Carnival Cruise Lines where she traveled all over the world and performed as a featured vocalist and dancer in their main stage production shows. She is currently a vocal teacher at a music school in Cumming, Georgia and works with local bands and other music projects and productions in the city. She has recently been appointed as the founding drama teacher for a new charter school for 5th and 6th graders called Atlanta SMART Academy, where they focus on math, science and the arts. Bree has several commercial, voice-over, on-camera acting and theatre credits and is a member of the Actor’s Equity Association and SAG/AFTRA. Bree loves sharing what she has learned and experienced. Even as a professional she is continually training to improve her own skills and abilities, and working to maintain knowledge of all the different acting techniques and to keep her vocals sharp. She is very excited to be teaching at the place she’s always considered HOME. So happy to be back AWP!
