Like many health systems across the state, over the past week Navicent Health has seen a dramatic increase in the number of people coming to be tested for novel coronavirus (COVID-19). Dr. Elliott Gordon cares for pediatric patients each day at Beverly Knight Olson Children's Hospital, Navicent Health. Here's why he says that social distancing and wearing a mask is vitally important in the midst of COVID-19! "I have a sibling who is going through chemotherapy and radiation and I have a grandmother who is almost 100 years old. For me, protecting them by not gathering with friends is vitally important. I would not want to be the one that infected them and caused them to get sicker than they already are."

It’s important to maintain social distancing, practice good hand hygiene and remain COVID Safe this Independence Day! As you celebrate with loved ones, you should also be safe around fireworks. Don't relight fireworks that malfunction Don't use modified or homemade fireworks Light fireworks one at a time and move back after lighting... Don't shoot fireworks from a metal or glass container Keep a phone or bucket of ice water handy and know first aid in case of burns Supervise children around fireworks If an accident or injury occurs, seek medical treatment.
