It’s official! Many of you know we started the transition to our new name, Bearings Bike Works, last fall, and we’re excited to introduce our new website as the final step in this transition! While we’ve always enjoyed being a bike shop for kids, we know the vision of Bearings and the work we do every day is so much more than that. This subtle update to our name will reflect that. We’re excited to clarify and elevate our brand and share about the exciting work Bearings is d...oing in the space of youth workforce development. It's a new year, but we still have the same need: bike donations! Do you have a dusty, used adult bike sitting around that needs a new home? Bring it to Bearings! Your used bike will help fund youth programming and create more jobs for teen mechanics in 2021. Donations are accepted during our regular sales and service hours (M-Th, 1-6:30 p.m. and Saturday 11 a.m.-5 p.m.). Send us a message if you have any questions!

We're open! As of today, our sales & service shop is back to regular hours and we are here for all of your bike repair and purchase needs. We're also in need of bike donations! If you got a new bike for Christmas, or you're doing a New Year garage clean out, we'd love to accept any gently used bikes you no longer need. Let's make 2021 a great one!

Wow! We cannot thank you enough for your incredible generosity. Because of you, we surpassed our 2020 fundraising goal and raised $101,000 this giving season. Thank you for believing in our mission and allowing us to continue this important work.

One thing we are looking forward to in the new year is more fun and educational STEM activities! Our learning pod students had a great time with these with Snap Circuits by Elenco kits last semester and we’re excited to learn more about electrical circuits this year!

Happy New Year! We are excited and hopeful for what the future holds in 2021 and so grateful for your support, which has helped get us here.

Adaptation has been a strong theme for Bearings in 2020, as we work to serve our community in the most relevant ways. This fall, through our partnership with Purpose Built Schools Atlanta, we have begun hosting a "learning pod" of students from Slater Elementary. We've been able to oversee their virtual learning while also providing bike shop programming during their flex time. We're grateful to be able to offer this space for learning and skill building during this unique time!

New shoes! We're grateful to our partners at Laureus Sport for Good USA for connecting Bearings with a generous donation from New Balance. Thanks to Laureus and New Balance, we were able to provide new athletic shoes to many of our Bearings kids and families this fall!

We had the pleasure of visiting American Bicycle Group, a bicycle manufacturer right here in America in Chattanooga, Tennessee last week! These great makers of brands like Litespeed, Quintana Roo and Obed made a generous donation of parts and supplies to Bearings and we’re so grateful. Thank you ABG!
