It’s been a busy February at Catalyst Physical Therapy! We are all finally double-vaccinated against COVID-19 but will continue our current safety protocols. We welcome Alex into the office on Tuesday and Thursday and Madison on Wednesday and Friday. Amy, Judy and Lauren were trained in PIlates for Rehab professionals. Blair did a workshop for moms at Burn Bootcamp Peachtree Corners.... Madison was accepted into her first choice University of Kentucky and her team finished second at Cheersport Nationals. See more

Poor posture is an issue for many with recurring neck pain and increased stiffness. The causes of poor posture can be due to prolonged sitting in front of a computer, looking at the phone, chest wall surgery, and/or driving. Gentle daily neck strengthening and stretching may help to relieve the tightness in the anterior and posterior neck. Exercises to Perform Daily to Help with Neck Pain * Chin tuck. A key exercise for keeping the head aligned above the shoulders. When d...one regularly, this exercise strengthens the neck muscles and increases flexibility and function. You can do chin tucks while standing or sitting. Slowly draw your chin towards your chest, holding for 5 seconds as you feel a comfortable stretch from your neck to the base of your skull. Your chin should not tilt up or down. Perform 5-8 repetitions. * Levator scapulae stretch. This stretch works on a muscle that is commonly tight and runs down the side of the neck. Perform this stretch seated or standing. Tilt and turn your head as if you are smelling your armpit. Keeping the shoulder down on the side that you are stretching. Bend your head until you feel a comfortable stretch in the back of your neck. Hold the stretch for 10 secs and then perform in the opposite direction. Perform 2-3 repetitions on each side. It is important to assess those activities that may be increasing your pain and influencing poor posture. Let us know if you need any guidance in addressing your workstation or assessing your neck pain to help find relief. #WorkoutWednesday #intentionalliving #mompreneur #atlantaphysicaltherapy #atlantaPT #womenshealth #momsmatter #catalystwoman #morethanphysicaltherapy #selfcare #ptformoms #ptforwomen #prenatal #postpartum #pelvicfloor #prenatalfitness #postnatalfitness #empowerwomen #breastcancer #breastcancerrehabilitation

It’s been exactly one year since we opened our doors at 2408 Mt. Vernon Road. We took a leap. A bigger space to fill meant we were ready to meet the challenge of growth. We never could have predicted what was coming down the road. We set MASSIVE goals for 2020. There were times I wasn’t sure we would still be here today. I’m grateful for landlords who understood and let me find a way to pay rent when cash flow wasn’t there, to the PPP loan I was fortunate to receive early (...especially when so many others did not), and securing PPE to reopen as soon as we could. I’m most grateful for our patients who continue to stand by us, who believe in the vision at Catalyst and who give us motivation to keep doing what we love. Here’s the thing: you are never ready. You trust your gut, your instinct, you plan to the best ability you can and you go for it. Then you work to make your dream a reality. Happy 1 year in our own space anniversary. And here’s to many more!

#MondayMotivation I LOVE Monday!!! I know - not many say that, but truly I love Mondays. I get to wake up ready to crush my goals. I start my weekday routine.... Ok, how many of you have a weekday routine? And I don’t mean, roll over, check your phone, stumble out of bed for coffee and then rush out the door. I mean, a true intentional routine? This is one thing I’ve worked hard to implement this year, especially when there has been so much downtime and less to do (Thanks, 2020). Staying on track and focused helps you not only meet goals, but also just fulfilled in your entire day. Taking a few minutes each morning to focus on you can set you up for success all day long. My routine is the following: Breathe - this is anything from a few quiet deep breaths to a full 5-10 minute meditation Journal - I JUST started this practice. It’s a great way to focus my thoughts and start the day grounded. Get all the junk out on paper, clear your mind and get ready to give more, be more and do more Gratitude - write down 5-10 things you are grateful for. Even the little things count! Every day I’m grateful for my warm blanket Affirmations - something else that is new for me. Mindset matters and this helps frame mine each day Caffeine - I definitely need this in the morning, and it’s rarely skipped Movement - either stretching, Peloton, walking or Pilates. No matter how big or small do SOMETHING to get your body moving each day Overwhelmed? Not sure you can do it? Do me a favor, try to add ONE of these things this week, see how it goes. Be consistent. Reward yourself on Saturday for making one positive change. Let me know how it goes. #mindsetmatters #positivemindset #catalystwoman #catalystmom #momsmatter #morethanphysicaltherapy #atlantaphysicaltherapy #mompreneur #gratitude #journal #breathe #routine

#MotivationMonday Let’s be honest - 2020 has not been the best year. But here we are, October. Fourth quarter. The time where we root for the underdog to make their big comeback and celebrate victory. What can you today, tomorrow, next week, next month to finish strong? In a year of so many lost opportunities, goals not met, experiences delayed or cancelled, how can you make sure that your year ends the way it started. ... Each January we state our intentions. Now is the time to honor them, stay the course, keep focus and make it to the finish. Find a way to look back on 2020 and be proud. #mompreneur #morethanphysicaltherapy #catalystmom #catalystwoman #ptformoms #ptforwomen #atlantaphysicaltherapy #womenshealth #pelvicfloordysfunction #pregnancy #postpartum #postnatalfitness #savvifit #activewear #exercise #fitmom #lookgoodfeelgood #athleisure

What if you had the opportunity to transform how the world sees women’s health? Sometimes we are called to do bigger, greater things. Catalyst was founded with a vision. We want to help women who feel stuck. The pre-retirement years are challenging. Many of us find ourselves in the prime of our careers, doing big things, while balancing motherhood at the same time. Others are choosing to stay home to raise children, leaving behind successful careers, or continuing part time.... Some of us have infants and toddlers at home while some of us are navigating the hormones of tween and teen-dom. And still some of us may be emerging on the other side, new to empty nesting. In addition to stressors at home and work, we face our own health challenges: peri-menopause, pelvic floor dysfunction, back pain, digestive issues, fatigue, autoimmune, and so much more! Even when these challenges are not obvious, our bodies are undergoing significant change during this time. What if you could be a part of a community that supported you in all these areas of life? What if you could connect with women going through the same trials and tribulations? What if you could network with top providers in women’s health, nutrition, fitness, mental well-being, hormonal health and more? And throw on social events, aesthetic care, shopping parties, meet-ups, dinner club and other events (virtual and in-person) to bring the community together? We can transform the face of women’s health together. #catalystmom #catalystwoman #momsmatter #womenshealth #mompreneur #bossbabe #athleisure #menopause #perimenopause #workingmom #SAHM #pelvicPT #bizPT #PTformoms #PTforwomen #Atlantaphysicaltherapy #brandambassador #motherrunner #momlife #fitmom #savvifit #transform
