Man, created by God, was given dominion over the whole earth...The substance, Life, intelligence, Truth, and Love, which constitute Deity, are reflected by His creation; and when we subordinate the false testimony of the corporeal senses to the facts of Science, we shall see this true likeness and reflection everywhere. One infinite God, good, unifies men and nations; constitutes the brotherhood of man; ends wars; fulfils the Scripture, Love thy neighbor as thyself; annihilates pagan and Christian idolatry, whatever is wrong in social, civil, criminal, political, and religious codes; equalizes the sexes; annuls the curse on man, and leaves nothing that can sin, suffer, be punished or destroyed. The destruction of sin is the divine method of pardon. Divine Life destroys death, Truth destroys error, and Love destroys hate. Being destroyed, sin needs no other form of forgiveness. Does not God's pardon, destroying any one sin, prophesy and involve the final destruction of all sin? Sin makes its own hell, and goodness its own heaven. The way to escape the misery of sin is to cease sinning. There is no other way. (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker... Eddy, p.339:1; 196:18; 327:1213 (to 2nd .)) These excerpts are from our Bible Lesson. The subject this week is: Everlasting Punishment. ... why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother's way. Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: ... Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good. If Truth is overcoming error in your daily walk and conversation, you can finally say, I have fought a good fight . . . I have kept the faith, because you are a better man. ... If the disciple is advancing spiritually, he is striving to enter in. He constantly turns away from material sense, and looks towards the imperishable things of Spirit. If honest, he will be in earnest from the start, and gain a little each day in the right direction, till at last he finishes his cou...rse with joy. Jesus taught the way of Life by demonstration, that we may understand how this divine Principle heals the sick, casts out error, and triumphs over death. ... Though demonstrating his control over sin and disease, the great Teacher by no means relieved others from giving the requisite proofs of their own piety. (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, p.25:1316, 2224) This is an excerpt from this week's Bible Lesson on the subject: Probation After Death. There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. Be watchful, sober, and vigilant. The way is straight and narrow, which leads to the understanding that God is the only Life. It is a warfare with the flesh, in which we must conquer sin, sickness, and death, either here or hereafter, certainly before we can reach the goal of Spirit, or life in God. (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy, p.324:13) This is an excerpt from this week's Bible Lesson on the subject: Probation After Death. Christian Scientists around the world are studying the same Bible Lesson this week and will gather Sunday morning to listen as it is read from the desk. We warmly invite you to join us!
I have set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved. Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope. For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. (Psalms 16:811) This is an excerpt from this week's Bible Lesson on the subject: Probation After Death. Christian Scientists around the world are studying the same Bible Lesson this week and will gather Sunday morning to listen as it is read from the desk. We warmly invite you to join us!
