Coot's Lake Beach

Today John Sherrod began his triathlon Here at 8am. He will swim 1.2 miles in the lake, ride 56 miles on the comet trail and run 13.1 miles on the trail. His goal is to finish but more importantly to raise awareness to combat veteran suicide. 20 veterans a day commit suicide and this needs to stop. He personally lost a young Marine in April who took his life because of PTSD and his combat injuries in Afghanistan. He is doing this event in partnership with Active Heroes, a top... rated charity that works with combat veterans. He has raised over $10,000 and these funds will be used to help combat veterans going through dark times. He says, These are the same soldiers that fought for our freedom and this is the least that I can do to help them. We are very thankful for our Military & Veterans.
