Romans 12:1 Several months ago I read these words in a book full of prayers. They have stayed with me and challenged my thinking over and over again.... Oh Lord, let that best love which shapes my life be evident even in my accountings. Let that which I treasure most be revealed in long columns or expenditures that month to month and year to year accrue like the clues of a treasure map, revealing where my heart and my hope are hidden.* Jesus said, Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. (Matthew 6:21) While the prayer references giving, what other things would show where my treasure lies. Does my calendar show my love for God? My conversations? The care I show others? Do they clearly show where my heart and my hope are hidden?
