Update: I wanted to give everyone an update on what has been going on the last several days. The doctors did determine that my mass is a type of lymphoma cancer once the pathologist is completely done testing the biopsy then they will be able to determine what type of lymphoma cancer it is which they should know by tomorrow(that is my understanding.) I have actually been meaning to update sooner but honestly I have just been sleeping so much (which is what my body is nee...ded) that I haven’t had a chance to update. I have also been told so many things by so many doctors recently that I hope my post isn’t confusing. I’ve been moved up to the Oncology floor here at Piedmont and tomorrow morning I will have a bone marrow biopsy just to make sure that the cancer has not spread. Earlier today I had a CT scan of my abdominal area and the results came back clear so the cancer has not spread in that area! My doctor plans on starting chemo either tomorrow or Tuesday and I will be receiving the chemo treatment through an IV all week long. He doesn’t want to do radiation to try and shrink the mass because apparently radiation will cause me a greater chance of developing breast cancer in the future. Surgery also doesn’t sound like an option because the mass is actually intertwined with some of my blood vessels and so my understanding is the surgery would be too risky. I will finally be able to go home next Saturday or Sunday and depending on how my body and the mass reacts/responds to the chemo I may not have to have any other treatments or I may we will see once we get to that point. At this point, the most uncomfortable feeling I have been experiencing Physically is the pressure I feel from the mass that is currently blocking 50% of my trachea so I’m definitely having to be VERY careful with what I eat and drink. When I heard that I thought OMG that is just crazy and I am still SO thankful I have listened to my body! My mom is going to create a page to keep everyone updated on the Caring Bridge site and I will post a link on my personal Facebook page in my business page to the site. Several people have asked what my new room number is and it is See more

Update: After having several different tests, scans etc. done last night in the ER the doctors determined that they wanted me to stay in the Cardiac ICU. To make sure I would be in the right place in case my heart stopped suddenly...if that isn’t scary as shit I don’t know what else is but I was very happy my Doctor wanted to be overly cautious and my heart was just a beaten all night long. This morning at 8 o’clock, I had surgery to drain the fluid that was causing the pai...n in my heart/chest and also making it nearly impossible for me to breathe. The doctor said the fluid wasn’t there a few days ago when they did an ultrasound on my heart and last night they obviously saw a good bit of fluid. Once again I am so glad I listened to my body as it could of lead to a heart attack (at least that is what Dr. GOOGLE said) However my surgeon, Dr Scott plans on keeping me here until this Friday and then fingers crossed I can go home. The pain I’m really feeling now are these tubes that are continuing to drain fluid out. I covered my face with my gown earlier when the nurses were checking it out...I just couldn’t look! I also was told that the mass which is the size of the cantaloupe, behind my breast plate is Lymphoma so it is cancer. The plan is I will be able to meet with an Oncologist tomorrow here at Piedmont to discuss Chemo and Radiation or what they think the next best step is. I know that God has this and knowing that it is CURABLE gives me even more faith. Dr. Scott said if he had a choice to pick any type of cancer to have that they would pick thyroid cancer or Lymphoma cancer. This is only a chapter in my life and I have many more chapters to go and so many more things I want to do and I’m gonna do them! My dad was in the room with me when we were told the news and I told him Dad, everything is going to be okay. And I meant it and still feel this way. Thank you again for all the prayers, phone calls and messages that have been sent they have meant more to me than you’ll ever know. Several people have asked my room number which is 4119 on the 4th floor. #beatcancersbutt #jennystrong

I want to thank everyone who has been checking in on me and praying for me! Friday in the early hours of the morning I couldn’t sleep due to severe pain in the back side of my neck, left side of my neck and head. I also have had a hard time swallowing and the fatigue has been OUT OF THIS WORLD. I Found out I have a blood clot in my neck and the pain was and has been related to a mass about the size of a cantaloupe which is under my breast plate and extends up to my thyroid wh...ich explains the lump I have had in my throat. I have been on blood thinners with the goal to dissipate the clot. Tomorrow I have a biopsy scheduled to see if the mass is cancerous or not and what caused it. I’m so thankful I listened to my body Friday morning, not knowing what the doctors could do but that something wasn’t right. When the results come back from the biopsy the specialists will know what the next step is, whether it is Chemo, Radiation or surgery. I’m looking forward to going home tomorrow and seeing my sweet girls. Life is so beautiful but can change in an instant. See more
