Shuttle Service: Due to our efforts this fall to limit the number of students on campus at any one time (e.g., implementing different types of learning models for classes), we don’t anticipate the need to utilize the Dalton Convention Center for additional parking. Consequently, we will not be offering shuttle service between campus and the Dalton Convention Center for the fall semester.

Dalton State students: Please register your vehicle online for the fall semester using our online parking management system. Past student vehicle registrations expired on August 1 so any vehicle parking on a Dalton State Campus this fall will need to be re-registered. https://daltonstateparking.gabest.usg.edu/

All Dalton State Police Officers complete formal training at a police academy for certification by the Georgia Peace Officers Standards and Training Council. Each year, the Dalton State Police Department officers complete specific training including Use of Force, De-escalation, Community Policing, and reoccurring Cultural Awareness and other training and educational opportunities. The De-escalation training is designed to provide de-escalation techniques that may be helpful in reducing the need to use force. The cultural awareness training helps officers explore how their own background and experience may influence how they relate to others, with the goal of increasing trust and respect between the public and the law enforcement community.

Dalton State Police Officers have completed the Georgia Bureau of Investigations Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training. CIT equips Georgia law enforcement officers with the skills to assist people with mental illness, co-occurring disorders, substance abuse, developmental disorders or other brain disorders who are in crisis, thereby advancing public safety and reducing stigma. Utilizing CIT, we focus on the following objectives: 1. Ensure people with mental illnesses and ot...her brain disorders receive treatment, in lieu of incarceration whenever possible. 2. Protect the rights of people with mental illness and other brain disorders. 3. Promote adequate training for our personnel about mental illness, developmental disabilities, Alzheimer's disease and substance abuse. 4. Work to ensure people with mental illness transition into an environment that can help them. See more
