At Family Eye Clinic we utilize the latest in eye care technology. We use Optos Retinal Imaging to take photos of every patient's retina. The Optos allows us to see 200 of the back of the eye, often replacing the need for dilation! The eye is actually a window to the health of the body. It is the only place that we can directly see blood vessels, which can let us know if the patient has diabetes, high blood pressure, or high cholesterol. We can also find freckles, holes, or even cancer in the back of the eye. This is why it is SO important to get your eyes examined every year! Call us today at 770-591-3511 to schedule your appointment including Optos Retinal Imaging today!

What does it mean to have 20/20 vision? Visual acuity (VA) is clarity or sharpness of vision. Vision can be measured both corrected (with glasses or contact lenses) and uncorrected (without glasses or contact lenses) during the course of an eye exam. The result of an eye exam boils down to two different but related sets of numbers: your VA and your actual glasses prescription The notation that doctors use to measure VA is based off of a 20-foot distance. This is where the fir...st 20 in 20/20 comes from. 20/20 vision means that at a 20-foot test distance, the person can read the 20/20 line of letters. Normal vision is somewhat arbitrarily set as 20/20 (some people can see better than that). Let’s say you have two people: Person A with 20/20 vision and Person B with 20/40 vision. The smallest line of letters that person B can see at 20 feet is the 20/40 line. Person A, with normal 20/20 vision, could stand 40 feet away from that same line and see it. As COVID-19 continues to impact our area, and in compliance with Governor Kemp's directive to limit gatherings of 10 or more beginning Tuesday March 24th at noon and continuing thru Monday April 6th, we are restricting our office to patients with appointments or emergencies only, as well as those picking up glasses or contacts. Because we are committed to the health and safety of our patients and employees, our employees may be wearing gloves and or a mask to protect everyone.... We ask you to comply with our new temporary restrictions: 1. If you have scheduled an exam, you may bring one person with you to the appointment and into the examination area if the patient is a minor or translation is necessary. We ask all other family and or friends remain at home or in your car. 2. If you are picking up glasses or contacts, we promise to be as efficient as possible to keep everyone safe. You may be asked to return for glasses adjustment or contact dispensing. 3. While in waiting room, we ask that you leave 2 seats between your family and other patients. 4. If the waiting room exceeds more than 6 people, you may be asked to wait in your car. We will call you when it's time for your appointment.
