As we head towards winter, still dealing with the pandemic, it’s more important than ever to keep an eye out for signs of depression, especially in teenagers. With so many things important to teenagers disrupted school, seeing friends, sports, and other activities that shape identity many kids are struggling, even those without a history of depression or anxiety. This week www.childmind.org has rounded up resources to help parents recognize the signs of depression in teenagers and get them effective treatment. Experts also offer tips on how to support the healthy coping skills kids need like avoiding negative and self-critical thinking patterns to stay resilient and optimistic in this tough time.

Registration is now open for the Fall 2020 Virtual Probe Tour at gaprobe.org/students. Over 160 colleges will participate in two mini-fairs to be held entirely online, November 2, 4-5. The fair will begin with a hosted panel on Monday, November 2. The panel will cover topical information delivered by admissions experts. Panels will be followed by nightly sessions where students can hear from different colleges and universities and have the ability to ask questions to representatives.

Congratulations to our Fannin County High School Band. They received 1st place in the 4 AAAA division tonight in the Peach State Marching Festival!!! They rece...ived all superiors in band, drum major, colorguard, and band. Congratulations to the drum line, they received 1st place for their division!!! I couldn’t be prouder of all the hard work and dedication that each one of them has given this season. Keep up the good work guys. See more

As you may know, meals are free to all students this year. However, we still receive funding based on our free and reduced percentages. With all the challenges... we have faced this year, the number of free and reduced meal applications submitted is significantly less than previous years. A decrease in our percentage directly affects funding and could lead to a decrease in federal monies we receive in the future.
