The Consumer Price Index (CPI) and Producer Price Index (PPI) are inflationary measures used to determine whether prices for goods and services are rising (inflation), falling (deflation when below zero or disinflation when falling but still above zero), or staying the same (since there is no particular term for this, let’s just call it zinflation, for zero inflation).

Economic indicators, or economic releases, are vital components to consider when making trading decisions. While some releases like Employment data or Retail Sales gives us a snapshot of an economy’s strength or weakness, some are a bit more subtle in their ways and can actually serve as a leading supposition of what’s to come for the main releases.

Have you ever started out your workday with a precise plan of what you intend to accomplish for the day only to realize that at the end of the day, your precise plan never even got off the ground? Here's a typical scenario to think about... You sit down at your desk & focus your attention on the mental checklist in your head. You start thinking about the 1st item on your list & suddenly remember there's supposed to be an important email waiting for you in your inbox. So you o...pen up your email account & find 100 other emails waiting for you. You start reading them one by one, replying as necessary and before you know it, 2 1/2 hours have passed by, you still have unread emails & now you're already behind. You immediately shift your attention back to the checklist you started earlier & the phone rings. You answer the phone & it's a client asking about the status of a project that was due yesterday. You panic & start sifting through the unorganized piles of paperwork on your desk to find the client's file. You can't find their file & promise to call back within the hour. You hang up the phone, continue searching for the file & a coworker walks into your office asking for advice on a budget proposal. You sit down with them to review the report, get into a lengthy discussion about another issue & lose complete track of time. You end the meeting & realize you never found the email you were expecting earlier in the day. You return to your email & the phone rings again. It's a 2 hour conference call that you completely forgot about with several potential prospects you've been waiting to hear from. When the call finally ends, it's already mid-day & now you're getting anxious because you're even further behind than before. To top it off, you haven't had lunch & your stomach is grumbling. You decide it's time to stop & take a lunchbreak, so you do. You return from lunch & sit down at your desk. You focus your attention back on your computer only to find that windows is running a required security update. You decide to pass the time by reviewing your cell phone notifications. 30 minutes later your computer reboots on its own & won't reconnect to the network. You call your internet service center & get placed on hold for 20 minutes. The work day is almost over, the email you're expecting remains unread, your clients' folder is still lost, the promised return call has not been made & none of the tasks on your mental checklist have even been started. If the narrative above feels even remotely familiar, this article is a must read & offers some great advice on how to regroup & make your workday more productive!!!
