Meyney was founded by Cistercian monks in 1662. During the 1855 classification in Bordeaux, the Luetkins family had the right to present only one of their vineyards for classification, so Meyney was never classified. Given it’s prime location and extraordinary terrior, Meyney is widely b...elieved to be a 2ème or 3ème Grand Cru Classé, but at a more affordable price. It’s made mostly from Cabernet. It’s earthy, dense, and smoky with dark red fruit, tobacco, and warm brown spice. Have you tried wines in our Chilean section recently? Castle Lapostolle offers lovely expressions of Chilean-style winemaking! The Cuvee Alexandre is elegant, round with intense deep red color. It's expressive and intense with cassis and black currant aromas. It pairs great with lamb, grilled steak, and pork shoulder tacos. The Caremenere is fresh and vivid with fruit notes of strawberries and plums along with red paprika and spices. It's great with spicy roasted chic...ken, sauteed peppers with andouille sausage, and meatloaf. We'd be remiss if we didn't mention the winemaker and technical director, Andrea León. She studied wine in the agriculture engineering program at Catholic University of Santiago, where she double-majored in economics and oenology & viticulture. After graduation, she worked at vineyards in the United States, Europe and New Zealand. León returned to Chile for a position at Santa Helena Winery, part of San Pedro Wine Group in Colchagua Valley. She joined the Lapostolle team in 2004.
