A year ago this is a post I would have NEVER imagined I would be making. But here lately it’s the only topic the world seems to be taking on. And of course they have every right to! Let’s talk about how this virus can absolutely wreck havoc on your beautiful locks. Hair loss. Two words. Yup. I’ve spoken to client after client recently who has fought off the virus and complained about them having NOTICEABLE hair loss. I don’t mean the little bit you lose during a shower, or th...e stuff that comes out during your morning brush. I mean gobs. Recently I had a client come in who’s hair loss was so concerning that I stopped combing it because the amount that was coming out was genuinely terrifying me. Worse than a blonde who just asked to go blonder for the third time. And yes she had just recently gotten over the virus. So, step one please do all things possible to NOT contract Covid. But, in the case that you do. Here’s what you can do to prevent hair loss. Vitamin D - vitamin D helps stimulate hair follicles, which is where your hair begins it’s growth. Collagen supplement - collagen is a great way to prevent hair loss. I personally take one scoop of the vital proteins brand in my coffee every morning. Collagen is full of amino acids. Which are proteins that make your hair stronger! Good shampoo - I know you hear this all the time from your stylist, and it’s not just because we want you to buy expensive products. It’s because professional quality shampoo is SO much better for your hair! Many drug store shampoos may allow your hair to feel great at first. But after a while you will notice a buildup of waxes and other unfortunate ingredients. This in the long term weakens your hair cuticle and leads to breakage. Stop putting it up !!! - wearing your hair up in tight ponytails and buns also can cause intense breakage. I understand having to wear it up during the day for your job and workouts! But you can wear it down at night and let it breathe!! You can also purchase a silk pillow case which reduces friction and prevents breakage!
