Throughout our many community meetings pre-pandemic, we heard repeatedly of the interest in robotics for students. This interest will be addressed in the next E-SPLOST by providing robotics course materials for every school in the district. #ESPLOST6

When people think of E-SPLOST, they don't immediately think of instructional resources, but these items are covered under E-SPLOST projects, too. We have been able to provide the best instructional resources for both our teachers and our students to ensure our district delivers a high-quality education. Each school in HCS benefits from this project on our #ESPLOST6 list.

As shared yesterday, Henry County Schools will extend remote learning for two more weeks, but a return to on-campus learning is on the horizon. Phase 2 of the Gradual & Staggered Return-to-Campus plan will be utilized starting February 8. The one change to Phase 2 that is different from when Phase 2 was utilized in the fall is that the remote/independent learning day for all students changes from Wednesdays to Fridays. Students returning to on-campus learning with the las...t name starting with A through M will attend on Mondays and Tuesdays, and students with last names starting with N through Z will now attend on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Students in self-contained programs, regardless of grade or name, will be able to attend five days a week starting in Phase 2 with the exception of Friday, February 12 being a teacher workday, and no students will be on campus or learning online on that one day. The district will observe Winter Break and then resume Phase 2 the week of February 22-26. Phase 3 will start on Monday, March 1. This means that all elementary and middle school students wanting to return to campus learning can do so Monday through Friday, along with all students in self-contained classes, but high school students will still observe the split schedule of A through M on Monday and Tuesday, and N through Z on Wednesday and Thursday. Phase 4 will start on Monday, March 8. This means all students wanting to return to on-campus learning will have the opportunity to do so five days a week. Through all of the phases, any students wishing to remain in the remote learning environment may do so. -->RECAP: January 25-February 5 - Remote Learning for All Students February 8-February 11 - Phase 2 for On-Campus Learners February 12 - Teacher Workday - No school (online or on-campus) February 15-19 - Winter Break February 22-26 - Phase 2 for On-Campus Learners March 1-5 - Phase 3 for On-Campus Learners March 8-11 - Phase 4 for On-Campus Learners March 12 - Teacher Workday - No school (online or on-campus) March 15- *Phase 4 will continue forward at this point so long as county health metrics allow. If you need more details on the phases/plan, please visit our website and click on the SY 20-21 Modifications link on the left side of the page. www.henry.k12.ga.us Thank you for your patience and understanding as Henry County Schools does its part to help reduce the spread of COVID-19 in our community. HCS Families, Tomorrow is the day, #HenrySchoolHeroesDay all across Henry County Schools. Our educators, which includes every employee in our system, have worked incredibly hard since March 13, the day that school changed for everyone, to make so many adjustments to keep learning going at the highest levels for our students. The success of our students is thanks in large part to the heroic efforts of our many Henry School Heroes. The list of actions includes schedule adjus...tments, remote learning design, hybrid learning development, safe on-campus learning, curbside meal pick-up, building modifications, virtual celebrations, socially-distant graduations, and so much more. In partnership with many of our appreciative business, government, and community partners, including the Henry County Chamber of Commerce, Henry County Government, and Henry County Development Authority, we are asking everyone in Henry County to wear purple on Monday, December 14 to honor our Henry School Heroes. You can let all educators, especially those who have most directly impacted you and your family to help make this year a success, know how much they mean to you by: - Wearing Purple - Sharing a post on social media with the hashtag #HenrySchoolHeroesDay and a message of thanks/encouragement for the heroes who have impacted your student(s)/family - Writing a note/email to your child's teacher/administrator/school to show thanks for all that they do and why they are a hero to you We look forward to celebrating the thousands of heroes among us on this very special day tomorrow, and we hope you will join us in saying thanks! #HenrySchoolHeroesDay #KeepHenryHealthy #MaskUpHCS

A big CONGRATULATIONS to Hampton Elementary for being the first and only Internationally Certified STEM School in Henry County Schools as recognized by Cognia, an international accreditation group. The school hosted a celebratory, socially distant event on Thursday, November 19 for school employees, students, and community members. This certification is tremendously impactful for our school and the community we represent, said Hampton Elementary School Principal Brian Keef...er. It is the realization of a dream come true that started over ten years ago, and finally getting to the point of being validated and accredited for all of the STEM work that we have put into place for the students and the community. Hampton Elementary's dream was to serve as a beacon for innovative STEM practices for Henry County Schools and beyond. One of the key ingredients to achieving STEM certification is demonstrating community partnerships, and Keefer wanted to acknowledge the tremendous partnerships the school has had with multiple groups, such as Whitley Engineering, Atlanta Community Food Bank, and Georgia Organics just to name a few in a long list of their school partners. Keefer stated this STEM certification means the world for their students because, through their innovative practices, they are now preparing them for the real world and equipping students to move forward through their K-12 education.
