Islands High School Athletic Department News Softball Moves on to GHSA 2nd Round and will host first ever Home Sweet Sixteen Playoff Game When: Thursday October 22, 2020 Where: Sharks Cove... Time: First Game: 1 pm Second game 30 minutes after "IF" Game Friday October 22, 2020 Tickets: https://gofan.co/app/school/GA27411 Recap from Game 3 Islands 3, Columbus 0 Aaliyah Williams threw a shutout to lead Islands Sharks Varsity past Columbus High 3-0 and Alexis Newman Knocks in two on Tuesday. The pitching was strong on both sides. Williams took the win for Islands Sharks Varsity. Williams surrendered zero runs on three hits over seven innings, striking out four and walking none. Islands Sharks Varsity tallied one home run on the day. Williams had a four bagger. It was an inside the park homerun to put the Sharks up 2-0 in the fifth inning. Alexis Newman knocked in her sister Aaliyah Newman twice. The first time on a fielders choice after Aaliyah roped a triple in the bottom of the fourth to give the Sharks the lead 1-0. Alexis then crushed a double to right centerfield two innings later to advance Aaliyah home again. This cushioned the lead for the Sharks 3 - 0. Alexis finished with two runs batted in to lead the Sharks in runs batted in at the plate. Williams went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Islands Sharks hitting attack. Island High School Athletic Department News Islands Volleyball Region Champs First time Since 2017 The Sharks Chomped on New Hampstead first in the Region semi-finals in three games with scores of 25-6, 25-16, 25-9... In the the Region Championship match it was no contest as the Sharks bite West Laurens 25-7, 25-5, 25-13. The GHSA AAAA 1st round will PLAY Carver High School (Columbus GA) in the Shark Tank on this Wednesday Oct. 2. Time TBA. Semi-finals Islands defeated New Hampstead 25-6, 25-16, 25-9 Leading for the Sharks were Aislinn Lanigan with 16 Assists and 9 Aces Avery Burke with 9 Kills Anna Collins with 5 Aces and 2 kills Veronica Sierzant with 5 kills Championship Islands defeated Weat Laurens to clinch the Area 3 AAAA title 25-7, 25-5, 25-13 Leading for the Sharks were Aislinn Lanigan with 17 Assists and 5 Aces Veronica Sierzant with 4 Kills and 15 Aces Avery Burke with 6 kills and 6 Aces Hannah Summerall with 4 kills AS ALWAYS GO SHARKS!
