Like everyone else, I'm doing sessions online. To make them more interesting for youngsters, several of my clients are getting some items delivered to their door. In each box are contents to make "Tiny Sandtrays" and other items for a "make a safe house" activity. Consider me the Amazon of therapy! Not pictured are the tiny sand trays made from rectangular Tupperware.

This play therapy activity builds (pun intended) on kids love of all things Lego. Separate the blocks into colors and assign a different feeling to each color. Blue can be sad, red, angry, etc. Then build a "rainbow of feelings" that represent proportionately what you feel. Discussion tends to be richer when there is a creative expression to go along with the verbal one.

Reasonable boundaries protect our mental health!!

Saw this great post on Pinterest and wanted to share this emotional management tool. Picture your overwhelming emotion as a wave. It might be uncomfortable, but in time, the tide will go out. If things feel unmanageable, call your therapist!!
