Prof Kaminshine was the Dean of Law, while I attended GSU Law. He was open to constructive change and improvement to the quality of instruction with verifiable results. In my opinion, he is a Professor Emeritus, erudite administrator and epitomizes excellence in Graduate Legal Education.

Today, June 20, 2020 is the World Refugee Day. The 1951 Refugee Convention and the 1967 Protocols are the only legal instruments that protects an otherwise vulnerable Population. The 1951 Refugee Convention provides the following protections: The right not to be expelled, except under certain, strictly defined conditions;... The right not to be punished for illegal entry into the territory of a contracting State; The right to work; The right to housing; The right to education; The right to public relief and assistance; The right to freedom of religion; The right to access the courts; The right to freedom of movement within the territory; The right to be issued identity and travel documents. It's important to remember that refugees are among the most vulnerable people in the world fleeing from famine, hunger, war, persecution and institutionalized or Organized Crime. They could one day become the next Madeleine Albright, Gloria Estefan, Henry Kissinger, Albert Einstein or Sigmund Freud. Let's celebrate the World Refugee Day today!

Today is Juneteenth. A Holiday that celebrates the day on June 19th 1865 that all slaves in the United States became free. Union Soldiers led by General Gordon Granger rode to Galveston Texas to proclaim the news. His promulgation read in part: "The people of Texas are informed that in accordance with a Proclamation from the Executive of the United States, all slaves are free. This involves an absolute equality of rights and rights of property between former masters and slave...s, and the connection heretofore existing between them becomes that between employer and hired laborer." This was two years after the Emancipation Proclamation by President Abraham Lincoln on Jan 1st 1863 declaring all Slaves Free. The Slaves in Texas had to wait an additional two and half years for their Freedom! We dedicate today to the memory of all those that perished in the pursuit of Freedom and Justice for all!
