Hearing aids are tiny powerhouses! We are so grateful for their technology. A hearing aid is an ultra-miniature electro-acoustical device that is always too large. It must amplify sound a million times but bring in no noise. It must operate, without failure, in a sea of perspiration, a cloud of talcum powder, or both. It is a product that one puts off buying for ten years after they need it but cannot do without it for thirty minutes when it has to be serviced.

We’re audiologists but we’re also first time kindergarten parents navigating elementary school during a pandemic. This amazing cartoon by the brilliant Chari Pere, Cartoonist shows a REAL question from our five-year-old daughter’s virtual math assessment!! The instructions: -Don’t tell your child any answers or READ any portion of the test to him. -They may get difficult questions that is OK!! It is trying to determine your child’s level. Tell your child that the computer ...thinks they are ready for that type of question, so they need to consider it a COMPLIMENT . When they get a really hard question especially in math tell them CONGRATULATIONS! #2020gohomeyouredrunk Chari Pere, Cartoonist has been documenting real slices of life from moms during the COVID-19 pandemic and we really believe laughter is the best medicine. October 10th is World Audiologist Day! Want to celebrate audiologists? Here's a few ideas: Email them an update and let them know how you’re doing. Bonus points if you include photos and/or videos where you’re smiling and wearing your devices. This will make any AuD happy- even if they only saw you once a million years ago (diagnosing audiologist, previous AuD, educational AuD, etc).... Tell people when you're going to an appointment with an audiologist. Spread awareness about the profession and what we do! Everyone knows what a hearing aid is, but most people don't know what an audiologist is.
