Goodbye letters are written once a resident completes the program... Dear addiction, I don't know why writing this letter has been so hard for me but it is. Thinking of my life without you is a little scary to me but now I am willing to do it! Now, for the first time since I was in high school, I feel like I can do it without you. I can't seem to find the words to write to describe the life you led me to. At first, I used you just for fun and as time went on, you grabbed a ho...ld of me before I even realized it. You consumed my life. You took everything and everyone I loved from me even down to my children. You made me a person I never intended to be. You told me I was worthless and that no one cared about me, that I could not live my life without you. You even tried taking my life from me a few times. Now, I've had enough and I want it all back, every single thing you took! Now I have the tools, the friends, my network, and God to help make sure I never have to return back to you again. Now I have a choice! So this is my goodbye. Jessica P
