We are hours away from being finished with one of the most daunting tasks we put on our winter to-do list - redoing half of our underground irrigation. When are brains catch up to our bodies, we intend to let you all in on why/how/what we just did. Until then - we are here to remind you that nothing is set in stone (apparently underground PVC is in that category), with the right crew/tools/weather even the most daunting tasks can be accomplished and if the vision of your farm... (life, business, etc) changes, it’s okay - change with it and move forward (that isn’t an easy/fast process, let me tell you, but we’ve made it close to the other side. You will too.) Here is our sweet Crow pup basking in the cool newly dug trenches. Paul and Blake are in the background laying and gluing PVC (new and old). These guys have quickly become master electricians, carpenters and (now) plumbers in the last 4 weeks. We are beyond thankful to have them on the farm with us and are ecstatic about the season ahead. That weekly microgreen seeding the one VERY consistent part of our week. Our week typically starts and ends with micros - harvesting for @freshharvest every Monday, seeding the first part of the week and then harvesting and packing for our friends @freedomfarmersmkt every Friday for Saturday market. Our micro seeding is rather low tech and no frills, but is the system that works best for us. Pre-weighed Dixie cups full of seed evenly dispersed across the tray. Easy peasy. Love micros? Us too! What to do with them? Soups, salads, sandwiches. Breakfast, lunch, dinner. All the foods, all the time. #microgreens #seed #rowbyrowefarm

It’s that time of year where it’s hard to walk past a clump of daffodil and resist the urge to harvest them all. I often give in and harvest as many as I can muster to bring back to the barn or in the house, reminding us that spring is right around the corner and bright blooms are not too far away. These little blooms also hold so much history in them - someone in my (Jess’ ) extended family planted these bulbs years and years ago, tended to them and plucked them every sprin...g for the same reasons we are. What a beautiful loop to be apart of and small moment each spring to give thanks to those who were here before us. Our biggest goal for our farm and property is that we sow the seeds now, to bring joy and sustenance to many generations after us. The time is now to care of our mother. For now - we have some great vegetables making their way to your belly’s tomorrow @freedomfarmersmkt and @chop_shop_atl . Grey skies outside, green lettuces inside. Barely any photos being taken over here - but trust us when we say lots of big things happening: greenhouse building and seeding, cleaning in preparation for spring, redesigning a few systems and so MaNy NeW things blooming and growing on the farm and in the business.
