Tip of the Day: Progress is progress! Sometimes when we have big goals, it can be easy to focus on "how far we have to go", and to forget about where we started. Take some time to reflect today - was there a time when you were working hard, hoping to get where you are now? Image Credit: Wonder_Doodles

Happy Friday! As July kicks off, it's undeniable that we are well and truly into another Middle Georgia Summer. Summer time can mean trips and vacations for many families, but it is often hard to find travel options that are accessible for families with members who use a wheel chair or have sensory sensitivities. In an effort to make sure all of our families are able to enjoy summer-time fun, we've included some links below that discuss beach accessibility options for individ...uals in wheelchairs. We hope this information will not only help you plan your next trip, but also open the conversation for increased accessibility in travel! Have a great weekend, and come back next week for sensory-friendly attraction ideas! - A break-down of Tybee Island's accessibility options, including "mobimat" beach access points and beach wheelchair rental options (free of charge on a first-come basis.) https://visittybee.com/info/handicap-access - Information about Jekyll Island's beach accessibility points and beach wheelchair rentals (also free on a first-come basis!) https://www.jekyllisland.com/visiting/beach-accessibility/ - A great article discussing Miami Beach's new mobility options, this site is also a wonderful source of information for accessible travel world-wide! https://wheelchairtravel.org/powered-beach-wheelchairs-mi/ - A list of access points on Hilton Head's beaches. There do not appear to be free beach wheelchair rentals on HHI, but several private companies on the island will loan them for a daily/weekly fee. http://vacationmobilitysolutions.com/public-beaches/

Tip of the Day: Humans are complex! It is sometimes difficult for us to accept our complicated truths - you may tell yourself "I am strong!" and then feel that you can't accept help, or "I am a caregiver!" and feel that means you can't take time to care for yourself/receive care from others. It's important to remember that things aren't that black-and-white! Just because one thing is true (that you are strong) doesn't necessarily mean that another thing is true (that you don't need help or rest sometimes.) What are your complicated truths? Tip of the Day: You've probably heard the saying "You can't pour from an empty cup" before - but what does that really mean? In a nutshell, we can't give to others if we have nothing left to give. If you're exhausted, stressed, and grumpy, you aren't the best "you" possible. This spills over into other parts of our lives - our work performance and home responsibilities slip. Taking care of ourselves is crucial - not just for ourselves, but so we can better care for those we l...ove as well! Let this be a reminder to take care of yourself in little ways every day. Maybe that means going for a short walk, going to bed earlier, making sure you eat enough vegetables or drink enough water, calling a friend or making time for a hobby you enjoy. Little acts of self care every day can help you feel more balanced and keep you from burnout! Image Credit: wonder_doodle

Tip of the Day: Did you know? A daily "affirmation" (a statement of support or encouragement) can have a positive impact on your mental wellbeing! By intentionally telling yourself kind things, you can improve your mood and your outlook. Affirmations for kids are great as well! This picture is just one example of an affirmation - you can choose any positive statement that tells you what you need to hear! A famous example is the quote "You is kind, you is smart, you is important" from the movie/book 'The Help'. Do you use affirmations? Write your favorite affirmation below! Image Credit: Saludamente

Tip of the Day: "Nothing lasts forever". It can be difficult to remember this when times are tough, but nothing in life is permanent! That's why it is so important for us to stay mindful - so that we can fully enjoy the positive things in our life, and allow ourselves to move past the negative things. Sometimes it can help to seek a professional if you're feeling "stuck"! Image credit: <3 Selfcareexpress <3

As the pandemic continues and the holidays approach, we recognize that times have been difficult for our community. Our local hospital staff and frontline medical workers have been particularly impacted by current events. In an effort to honor the difficulties faced by our frontline medical workers, Sai Rehab, Inc. would like to offer six free tele-mental health sessions; if you or a frontline medical worker you know could benefit from services, please call our office at (478) 475 - 7988 to set up an appointment.

When times are difficult, it can help to speak to yourself as you would to a good friend. Are the things you tell yourself kind and supportive, or are they overly-critical and negative? Would you say those things to someone that you love? If not, try to replace some of that negative self-talk with one of these options: #gentlereminder #bekindtoyourmind #friendlyneighborhoodtherapist

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear friend, mentor, and colleague, Farley Gonzales. Farley was an extraordinary Physical Therapist with over forty years of experience. He was a founding member and pillar of the Sai Rehab community. His joy and zest for life, his incredible sense of humor, his loyalty, and unwavering dedication to his friends and clients will be truly missed. We feel privileged to have worked with such an amazing, strong leader, wh...o had so much compassion and love for his team. Farley’s courage, determination and sense of humor is something we will always carry with us and hope that we can display those same characteristics especially in trying times. Even though he is no longer physically with us now, we know his legacy will live on in all of us. He was an incredible teacher and mentor who inspired everyone who knew him. Farley, your memory will live on in all of our hearts forever! Our hearts are with his family in this time of grief. See more
