Coconut power sprinkles Do you sprinkle cheese on your dog’s food? Be honest ... a little cheddar? Parmesan??? Confession: I’ve done it! It’s the worst when they don’t eat their food! You can get the same appetite stimulating results with a much better choice though. We really shouldn’t be feeding our dogs processed cheese. Consider doing this instead: POWER SPRINKLES by @cocotherapy. I took the time to write a blog about this company some time ago. Their farm is USDA organi...c and has been in the same family for several generations. These sprinkles are low protein so it’s ok for those advanced kidney failure patients to try to get the to eat their food! To see Blog click link in bio now. Or go to www.nashvilleholisticvet.com/blog - this one is called Coconut oil: so many benefits, so many choices and it’s dated January 16, 2019. If you order from @cocotherapy use code neely for a 10% discount. Worried your pet won’t like it? This is a human grade supplement - if they don’t want it, add it to your yogurt, smoothies etc! (Also see their coconut chips - great natural fiber supplement and hair ball remedy for cats). #instagramtakeover continues: I have been following Neely North for about 4 years. Wherever she went to practice I took Luke. Now she comes to the house, has more focused time to look at Luke and to discuss and advise me in all areas of his life. She has helped me tremendously in getting him on a whole foods and addressing his pain levels. Without her I would not know how to feed him properly or address his pain. Even on days that Luke does not want to walk, he will prance... down the hall as I take his food to the laundry. It is wonderful that if something comes up a email or call will get a quick response from her. Besides that she is a kind, compassion, fun loving, sweet, engaging vet. #dogacupuncture #labsofinstagram #laboradorretriever #caninepainmanagement #homecookeddietfordogs #tcvm #theholisticvet #savannahholisticveterinarycare #nashvilleholisticveterinarycare #dogsofinstagram See more

Kidney 1 -that point on the bottom of Claude’s foot(ie) helps him with his kidney yin and Qi deficiency (he is quite weak in the rear limbs, has cool seeking behavior). At the time of the treatment he didn’t notice having kid 1 treated with the electro unit - within 15 minutes he could feel his feet(ies) again! Electro acupuncture is so great for dogs who are weak in their rear limbs! Yay Claude! #tcvm #theholisticvet #nashvilleholisticveterinarycare #savannahholisticveterinarycare #dogacupuncture

Are you using the Assisi loop yet?? Here is some information from @assisianimalhealth about this FDA approved non pharmaceutical anti inflammatory device: Assisi Animal Health is committed to providing clinical solutions, backed by research and evidence-based data. Our double-blind, peer-reviewed veterinary clinical studies are at the heart of all that we do. These studies firmly root Assisi in the scientific veterinary community by verifying that our proprietary targeted p...ulsed electromagnetic field (tPEMF) technology significantly reduces pain and inflammation in animals. .... In general, we recommend that you start with a loading dose of 2 to 4 15-minute treatments per day for acute and chronic or degenerative conditions. For acute conditions (such as post-surgical treatment or recovery from a trauma), we recommend that you continue 2 to 4 treatments per day for the first week or so and then taper off for the next 7 to 10 days or until the condition is fully healed. For chronic or degenerative conditions, we recommend that you continue with 2 to 4 treatments per day for 2 to 4 weeks and monitor the animal until you see improved mobility and less pain response. Again, you can taper down to 1 or 2 treatments per day or even 1-3 treatments per week. Ultimately, you want to consider that the Assisi Loop is catalyzing the anti-inflammatory cascade as well as accelerating the body’s own healing properties. We rely on veterinarians to assess the animal and to work with the pet owner on the best treatment protocols for each case. On the same day of course. Rocco’s mom has decided to give acupuncture, food therapy and Chinese herbs (so #tcvm - Traditional Chinese veterinary medicine) a chance to settle his nerves. She just noticed his general level of anxiety is high enough that she feels he could be happier if we could decrease it ....What a great mom @mrsjackattackdonaghy !! #instagramtakeover post from Powder’s mom : We started treating Powder after his diagnosis with hypertension and complications with his heart. Although regular medicine was keeping him alive, he had lost his happiness, appetite, and energy. He just wasn't the same. I was so sad, keeping Powder with T-shirts because he was so skinny and even losing his hair, I was afraid the neighbors would think that I was starving my dog. One day I mentioned my concern to one of my neighb...ors, who happens to be one of Dr. North's patients, and she recommended I see this fantastic alternative medicine vet. After a couple of acupuncture sessions, I had learned so much about nutrition, overall wellness, end of life care, and Powder was getting back to his 17-year-old normal self. After a few months of treatment, Powder went back to his 100% normal happy dog with the appetite of a teenager and so excited to be here, go on his walks, etc. Today, he is doing so great that recently we were forced to do teeth cleaning "risky business with a 17-year-old dog, with hypertension and a heart murmur" He made it, not only made it but passed the test with flying colors. His blood work, specifically his liver values are back to normal (this has not been the case for him in YEARS - always high, high) He was strong enough to get 14 extractions and bounce back like never before. All this at 17.5... So I would say that Powder is doing as well as he is because we have managed to listen to his illness, the ones we can figure out with tests and labs, BUT more importantly, we have Dr. North who listens to the silent aches, pains, and discomforts. And the one who has taken Powder dog to the next level thanks to acupuncture and alternative veterinarian medicine. He is living his BEST LIFE, no doubt about it!!! @itsallbuenoo #tcvm #integrativeveterinarymedicine #theholisticvet #nashvilleholisticveterinarycare #savannahholisticveterinarycare See more

What does it mean if your pet is going gray or their coat has faded? Western medicine had no explanation for this, but Chinese medicine does! Look at these photos of my soul mate dog, Maverick. The first two photos are circa 2003 and 2006. The last two are around 2012. Look at the color of his tongue - red when young, pale when old ; look at the black in his coat how rich it is in the first two photos. Look at the browns he has around his face (seen most clearly in the photo ...with he and my chinchilla, Speedy-that’s a whole other story). You can barely see the brown in this last photo that is 6 years later. The pale tongue and coat are due to a blood deficiency in Chinese medicine. There are foods and herbs that can nourish and help this before it turns into other diseases. He had the ultimate blood stagnation which is cancer in the last two photos. Blood deficiency can also look like dry cracked pads and flakey / dry skin. I really wish I knew way back in 2006 what to look for and how to correct these things. I wouldn’t trade it for what I was learning in vet school at the time - both are so important. Still, when we know better, we do better! Schedule a consult today to identify any early or established TCVM (traditional Chinese veterinary medicine) patterns that may be developing with your pet. We can add foods and herbs to correct these things so your pet can live their longest and best life. (Also a shout out to Flo Jo the wonder dachshund who was so blood deficient by the time we lost her that her entire face was white.) #tcvm #foodtherapy #chineseherbs #dogacupuncture #grayhair #knowbetterdobetter ( @scruesie - you were doing reiki on him in this last photo) See more

A Two-fer: Dr. North began treating my mixed breed rescue dog, Lulah, about two years ago for degenerative back issues. At the time she was 14 years old. Even after the first treatment, we saw continuous, positive improvement to Lulah’s health and well-being. Dr. North recognized various maladies and behaviors that led us to a multi-pronged treatment including acupuncture and diet changes. Because of Dr. North’s care Lulah no longer needed to take harsh painkillers that made ...her groggy and damaged her liver. Sadly, Lulah passed away in September 2018 but Dr. North was right there by our side as Lulah crossed the Rainbow Bridge. Lulah lived her last months in less pain and discomfort because of the acupuncture and holistic treatment Dr. North provided. Fast forward several months and Lulah’s sister dog, Jia, began a terrible bout of vomiting that just wouldn’t stop. She spent a full week in the Emergency Vet and Regular Vet’s offices receiving fluid treatments to lower her elevated liver enzymes. While we couldn’t pinpoint an exact cause for the elevated levels, she was diagnosed with pancreatitis and given supplements to improve her liver and gall bladder functions. She was also put on an extremely strict low fat diet. Jia, 9 years old, had always looked up to her big sister Lulah for guidance and affirmation never really having the self-confidence on her own. She was skittish around loud noises and over time her tolerance to thunderstorms grew less and less. Spring thunderstorms threw Jia into a full on panic attack of panting, shaking, and crouching behind or under her human as best she could. Jia’s all-inclusive treatment included acupuncture, herbs, home-cooked food, and CBD oil. Jia improved and she can now endure a thunderstorm with minimal concern. Her demeanor has brightened and I know it’s due to Dr. North’s insightful and meaningful care. I fully believe Jia was mourning the loss of her sister Lulah and it manifested itself into physical ailments such as the vomiting and anxiety. We are so thankful to Dr. North for her experienced care and concern. Emily

"I got to be here two years longer than expected because Dr Neely North treated me with her magic needles! Sammie G. When our aging Lab was diagnosed with ruptured discs it was suggested that she probably needed to be put down. We were at our summer cottage on the Great Lakes. The vet there was great but only had drugs and complete rest as his suggested therapy. We did that for 5 weeks then I drove Sammie home so that Dr Neely North could do acupuncture on her. Three treatm...ents later she was chasing balls again and lived another two years basically pain free. Levi suffered from IBD and thyroid disease. I did everything I could for him, seeking help from five different veterinarians, but he eventually stopped eating. I called Dr. Neely North who was truly a blessing to us. Through holistic veterinary care and using Chinese medical practice, Levi began to eat again. Thanks to Dr. North, we had precious Levi with us for six more months. #instagramtakeover #savannahholisticveterinarycare #theholisticvet #catupuncture #felineibd #catsofinstagram #tcvm

I’m a ten-year-old long-hair dachshund who was rescued from the Cobb County shelter five years ago. I now live in downtown Savannah with three other dachshunds. I have chronic dry left eye, and I started acupuncture sessions with Dr. North to see if there was another route to restore a non-functioning tear duct. Although our acupuncture sessions could not restore something that was not there, I’ve had great side effects in my general health and vigor. Dr. North recommended a ...holistic diet with a few eastern medicine additives, and with monthly sessions, I now have more energy and act like a much younger dog. I prance around and vocalize before meals and walks. My tail is always up and wagging. I play more with my pack members, and we love to racetrack around the house at top speed. My human tells me when Dr. North is coming, and I sit by the door and watch for her. When she appears, I welcome her with dance and song. She always brings me plenty of treats. What a perfect friend! #instagramtakeover #theholisticvet #dashchundsofinstagram #dogacupuncture #savannahholisticveterinarycare #nashvilleholisticveterinarycare #bestlife See more
