WiFi On Wheels is rolling to Savannah Mall! In an effort to provide WiFi access to students who do not have access at home, Savannah Chatham County Public School System is providing a school bus equipped with WiFi to visit Savannah Mall (MIDDLEGROUND ROAD SIDE) every Thursday morning from 8:00am to 11:00am. The bus has been outfitted with technology that will provide mobile Internet access for our students for free! We are excited to rollout our WOW SmartBuses, 'WiFi on Wh...eels,' for our students that do not have or are having difficulty connecting to the Internet. We have worked closely with Transportation, Campus Police, and the schools to provide the best locations for serving our students. This will provide additional options for students to connect and continue their online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic and school building closure. The Smartbus supports a total of 60 student connections. Connectivity to the bus can be from 300ft - 400ft, line of sight. It uses 4G LTE speeds for cell tower connection and provides WiFi connectivity to student personal or school issued devices. It is CIPA-compliant and provides education-only content filtering. The Smartbus will be located in the Savannah Mall parking lot next to Middleground Road, and this service will continue until schools open up for face-to-face instruction.
