Decreased hand strength may impact and hinder a child’s ability to complete daily tasks; such as... Holding a pencil correctly Completing self care skills... Opening doors and containers Crossing the monkey bars Buckling their seat belt Hand weakness may be evident in younger or older children and can be easily corrected with simple hand strengthening activities! Activities for those small hands can be fun and can be incorporated anytime and any place! Common items around your house that would be great to use are hole punchers, clothespins, animal poppers, spray bottles, tennis balls with a slit on the top and tongs! Speech therapists consistently model sounds and words during their sessions. This is why it is important for the patient to be able to see their therapist’s mouth. Thanks to Shield Pals, our families are able to have some peace of mind, while still allowing our therapist to provide effective therapy for our kids.
