Important Announcement: Cancellation of Shop with a Phoenix Good afternoon Phoenix Family! It is with heavy hearts we announce the cancellation of Shop with a Phoenix. With the rise in Covid cases recently and the concern for the well-being of our students, we will be canceling Saturday’s shopping at Wal-Mart. Please know the sponsored children and their families will still receive gifts for Christmas. However, we will have our teachers and staff do the shopping. The outpouring of love and support we received from our students is so heartwarming and we hate they will not get to participate in the experience this year. Even though this year has looked a little different, the Christmas spirit is still alive. The Phoenix nation is rising up and these families will still be able to have joy on Christmas morning!

The Lady Phoenix (39-13, 8-2) are moving on to the Elite 8 after getting past a strong Oconee team by the scores of 25-16, 25-19, 25-21. Sonoraville will face the winner of Jackson vs. Richmond Academy on Tuesday.

Chris Pierce, President/CEO of North Georgia National Bank, saw a need and was inspired to do something about it. The NGNB implemented a "Our Jeans Day is Yours" to raise funds for each local high school to be used to help students in need of winter clothes. Lady Phoenix Softball: Game times for our Sweet 16 matchup with the Oconee County Lady Warriors, at OCHS, will be Friday at 1:00p.m. and 3:00p.m. Phoenix Football: On Friday we will travel to Murray County to face the Indians. Kickoff is at 7:30p.m.... Lady Phoenix Volleyball: Sonoraville moves on to face Oconee County, on their court, this Saturday at 11:00a.m. **Cross Country/Track and Field: Our boys team finished 2nd overall, in the Region 6AAA Championship Cross Country meet, earning them a spot at the State meet in Carrollton on Nov 6th.

SHS Graduates, Brooklyn Carr (Class of 2019) and Robbie Arnold (Class of 2018), Awarded National American FFA Degree Each year, the National FFA Organization honors FFA members who show the utmost dedication to the organization through their desire to develop their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education. The American FFA Degree is bestowed upon a select group of students in recognition of their years of academic and... professional excellence. This year 4,136 American Degrees will be awarded. Brooklyn Carr and Robbie Arnold, members of the Sonoraville FFA chapter in Calhoun, Georgia will be awarded the American FFA Degree at the 93rd National FFA Convention & Expo Oct. 27-29, held virtually. Sponsored by Case IH, Elanco Animal Health and Syngenta, the award recognizes demonstrated ability and outstanding achievements in agricultural business, production, processing or service programs. To be eligible, FFA members must have earned and productively invested $10,000 through a supervised agricultural experience (SAE) program in which they own their own business or hold a professional position as an employee. Recipients must also complete 50 hours community service and demonstrate outstanding leadership abilities and civic involvement through completion of a long list of FFA and community activities. Less than one percent of FFA members achieve the American FFA Degree. Each recipient of the American FFA Degree receives a gold American FFA Degree key and certificate after being recognized at the national convention. The National FFA Organization is a school-based national youth leadership development organization of more than 760,000 student members as part of 8,700 local FFA chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The Phoenix are STATE BOUND! The Region 6AAA Championship Cross Country meet was held today at Grove Level park in Dalton. Our boys team finished 2nd overall e...arning them a spot at the State meet in Carrollton on Nov 6th. Andrew Carey (Junior) placed 4th overall for the boys. Nahum Trenti (Senior) finished 6th overall. Riley Triplett (Senior) finished 3rd overall for the girls which advances her to State individually. What a great season it’s been! GO PHOENIX!!
