When bikes are abandoned on Georgia Tech’s campus- it happens more than you would think- StarterBikes takes them in, restores them, and then find them a new home! But not all bikes can be saved. This weekend we helped take apart bikes too damaged to repair, saved those parts that could be used again, and prepped the rest for recycling. A great story of reuse and responsible disposal- big thanks to @recycle.gatech for taking these bikes to be recycled. #reuse #recycle #bike

VOLUNTEER ALERT Starter Bikes has about 30 too-far-gone-to-repair bikes that they need to strip all the parts off of and prepare for recycling. If you've been looking for a fun way to contribute to your community, want to get involved with Starter Bikes, or just want to kill some time and de-stress by ripping all the parts off a Huffy, come by Starter Bikes on Saturday, October 10th from 10 AM - 1 PM. They will provide work stands, tools, gloves, instructions, and disinfectant wipes; you provide the enthusiasm and a mask. If you are planning to attend, please RSVP to the Facebook event (https://fb.me/e/1Iha9u5vB) or email [email protected].
