The one sentiment that had me nodding emphatically was the impression the author has that this is a buzzing city firmly seated in a time of growth. The optimism is hard to ignore and it's made all the more impressive because we simply are just not used to this here. In the p...ast, real change of a positive nature has been at a much slower pace. With the milder weather these past few days, hints of Autumn are in the air(just know that we're not there yet,newcomers!...it's gonna be hot for a good while yet)...and with The Fall, come some great festivals in the River Region! Arts In The Heart of Augusta is the grandmother of them all. Don't let it sneak up on you because it'll be here before you know it. Badges are already on sale. And my how this eve...nt has grown under the careful parentage of the Greater Augusta Arts Council. I remember the days of it's infancy in the 80's when it was held in the parking lot of the Municipal building on Telfair Street. Now it takes up the better portion of Broad Street including the Commons and multiple side streets...something to behold! Food and art and music everywhere you turn. It should be absolutely mandatory for anyone spending their first September in the River Region to attend. In case you missed it, we recently posted a brand new outdoors article by Jason Alamo about a tragically underutilized local resource in one Lick Fork Lake. A feature not focused on in the article is the 5 mile loop of single track presenting a semi-technical challenge to mountain bikers. While driving there, be cautious as you approach the park on the side road as deer and wild turkey are all over the place.
