Meet our team at our Stand-Up MRI location in Atlanta! The Stand-UP MRI allows you to be in a standing position with the support of a table that slightly tilts to prevent movement. This option is ideal for people who are claustrophobic, confined to a wheelchair, or have trouble with balance or standing by themselves.

Dense breasts are a risk factor for breast cancer, and the denser your breast tissue, the higher your risk. Dense breast tissue is also commonalmost 50% of women who have a mammogram to test for dense breast tissue are diagnosed with heterogeneously dense (more common) or extremely dense (less common) breasts, according to the National Cancer Institute. While mammography is recommended for all women by age 45, women with dense breast tissue often have results that can make ...it difficult to see potentially cancerous tumors and other abnormalities. Dense breast tissue can mask some tumors that, like the tissue, appear white in mammograms. If you have dense breasts, a breast MRI can supplement your screening mammogram to increase cancer detection. This means that cancer may be found earlier when it is easier to treat. Accelerated Breast MRI, also known as abbreviated breast MRI, are offered every Saturday at certain AHI locations with an all-female staff. Don't forget to make your yearly mammogram and Accelerated Breast MRI appointments! With its higher sensitivity, Accelerated Breast MRI can detect certain breast cancers that a mammogram might miss, including in women with dense breast tissue, which can conceal some tumors on a mammogram. Your physician may recommend Accelerated Breast MRI along with a mammogram if you are at high risk for breast cancer due to family cancer history, genetics or another factor.
