AHHH celebrates the life of former Board Chairman and volunteer, Paul Shanor, Jr. This past week, Paul left behind his wife and son and many others who are now better because of him. The family has asked that donations be made to AHHH in his honor, as a way of carrying on his legacy and we are grateful to be recipients of his selfless life. One of our long-term guests that lives in Apalachicola, Florida and makes the 5.5-6 hour drive each time he comes up, sent us the following email: My scan results were negative, no new cancer detected. Yea! Praise The Lord! If my next round of scans in November are negative, they’re telling me I will only have to come back every 6 months in 2021. I just wanted to let you know how much you all mean to me: no matter what is going on in this crazy world, the one thing that has... been consistent from the beginning is the care, generosity, and love that I have received from AHHH and the entire staff each and every time I have to visit. I truly hope and pray that none of you ever have to experience first hand from my perspective how much this means. We are honored to call you family and celebrate this AMAZING news with you. When you come back in November for the final scans- we will celebrate in person- and toast with some sparkling cider and some fun desserts! Our Chaplain Paul is more than just a chaplain... he’s also super creative and spreads joy wherever he can. He met Donna, one of our guests who is here for occupational therapy on her arm, and offered to turn her boring arm brace into a dinosaur! It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of one of our previous employees. Daryle Stewart worked for AHHH for nearly 2 years as a Guest Services Coordinator from 2018-2020 and made many of your stays brighter. His service will be held Saturday July 11, 2020 at 3pm at the Willie Watkins Funeral Home located at 1003 Ralph David Abernathy Blvd. Atlanta, GA 30310. Daryle, you will be missed.
