A truly special place in our world. Lets protect it from the destruction that might soon affect it due to the plans being made in haste during the final days of this Administration. https://wildcumberland.org/?na=v&nk=1324-d8e21b110d&id=14
Canoes [aka 'open boats] are great fun and can do more than a few things you wouldn't expect/
North along the coast from Darien in McIntosh County is my favorite bike riding and some times kayak exploring place. Harris Neck Wildlife Refuge. Check out this historical article. https://vanishingcoastalgeorgia.com//lorillard-fountain-p/

Bringing up your kids and now grandkids right ! Wonderful trip through the Okefenokee Swamp with the Georgia River Network, an Athens based NPO. Lots of trips around the state.
Thankfully Hurricane Zeta moved in and out fast. Our upper watershed received 2" inches of rain while closer to the BRO, less than 0.25". The 'slug' of high water will probably not crest until sometime tomorrow for our last Friday and Saturday of the 2020 season. We hope it won't be too high to rent but it will be higher than normal for this time of year. Check the link below AND call to reserve a time slot to ensure timely access to the river. https://waterdata.usgs.gov/ga/nwis/uv
Protecting this fish could help protect more of Georgia's rivers....

FALL COLORS WE have two LONG WEEKENDS left in our 2020 season. The BRO is open in October: Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Its been a good year all things considered with more than enough water to float our boats... despite EXCESS rain on a few occasions.
Thanks to everyone who came to the BRO and enjoyed our NE Georgia Jewel, the last free flowing piedmont river in Georgia. We'll be opening again mid March of 2021 and continue till the end of October. WE hope to see you all again. Remember to Vote for the environment, its all we have and it won't return once it's gone.
For those interested in paddling with a great group of experienced paddlers [kayak and canoe]around the state, I highly recommend this group.
check out the double bump up caused by local rains of 1.5" and Upper Watershed rains of up to 6.5". Click on the graph and scroll down to see all the new options on the USGS river gage sites. https://waterdata.usgs.gov/monitoring-location/02191300/
Three quarters of the continental US is in some sort of drought EXCEPT the Southeast. Wow. Lucky us. https://mailchi.mp//drought-update-possible-expansion-ahea
We all love clean unpolluted water, air and land. To that end, this election will have consequences... Vote for the environment as if the world, our country and our lives depend on it. This is just one of the problems in our area's watershed that we can only solve by voting to control the greed and power of these [fake] Green power companies. Let your local county and state reps that they need to protect Ga's waters, air and lands for us and future generations. https://www.madisoncleanpowercoalition.com/
The river levels are magical. The BRO will be open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays for the month of October. OPEN 11 am Friday and 10 am Saturday and Sundays. Click on this link to see the new USGS gage for the Broad. https://waterdata.usgs.gov/monitoring-location/02191300/
The Broad River is a beautiful place to be. This weekend will be bright and sunny. We're now open Friday, Saturday and Sunday [long weekends] in October.
