--Ode to The Old Gray Mayor-- The Old Gray Mayor ain’t what he used to be Now that he is 50.... Broken down and at times thick bearded as a bear He smokes through life without a single care His middle name is Smartt Cause his momma and daddy said he aint so dumb And by the way honey, it rhymes with heart, But my Sweet Laura dear so it does with fart? He will Bennett at your side at a drop of a hat, And when you need it take you to the mat, Camp David is where he is the bard, Unless when earning points on his Erlanger Frequent guest card He ain’t what he used to be, but that is fine Cause he is now aged like a well-balanced wine The Old Gray Mayor ain’t what he used to be And quite sure all would agree And most would say we love him all the same Cause the boy still got game. Happy Birthday! https://youtu.be/bsByJy9wB-I

CORONAVIRUS PRECAUTION Dear Residents, The City of Lookout Mountain considers the health and safety of our citizens a top priority. With the barrage of recent news reports on the Coronavirus (COVID-19), I wanted to reach out to you to address this situation and how it affects our community. Rest assured, the City Staff is working round the clock during this time to address concerns and I wanted to provide you with some information as we currently understand it.... What is COVID-19? COVID-19 is a respiratory disease that is primarily spread person-to-person through close contact with individuals who are ill with COVID-19. Like other respiratory viruses, it could also be spread by a person touching a surface or object that has the virus on it and then touching his or her mouth, nose, or possibly eyes. What is the City doing? We are closely monitoring the situation and are working side by side with our Local, State and Federal officials to ensure we are following protocols and providing the safest environment for our staff and citizens. However, this is a community effort and there are things that everyone must do to combat the spread of air-borne contagions. Please take a moment to review the following preventative measures as outline by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in order to keep yourself and others healthy: - Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. - Sneeze and cough into your elbow or cover with a tissue. In other words, keep germs off your hands. Put used tissues in a wastebasket and then wash your hands. -Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are not available. - Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands. - Should you show any symptoms, please avoid visiting public places and seek medical attention as outlined on the CDC website. For more detailed information, please visit the CDC website at https://www.cdc.gov/coronavir/2019-ncov/about/symptoms.html We thank you for your continued commitment to our Community and your assistance in utilizing these best practices. David Bennett Mayor, Lookout Mountain, Georgia

City of Lookout Mountain, Georgia 08.03.2020

It is with a heavy heart I want to inform you that long time employee, Jason Derryberry and his family, lost everything in a house fire over the weekend. Jason has worked with the city for over 16 years in both the sewer and public works departments. Jason is a dedicated employee and is one of those guys that would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. I asked Jason if he needed anything the day after the fire and he simply said, My wife, 2 boys and dog are al...l safe. That is all I want and need. I ask that our residents consider making a gift to help this family get back on their feet. The city has set up a Go Fund Me page or you can make a tax deductible donation to The City of Lookout Mountain, GA. Please indicate that you want to give to The Derryberry Family Fund. You can also drop off a donation at our temporary City Hall location at the Methodist Church or mail a check to: City of Lookout Mountain 1214 Lula Lake Road Lookout Mountain, Ga 30750 Thank you in advance for considering a gift to help the Derryberry family. Also, please keep them in your thoughts and prayers as they begin putting their life back together. Many Thanks, David Bennett
