A hypothesis worth exploring further.
Check out this awesome interview featured in Entomology Today with Virginia Tech Entomology alumni Dr. Hamilton Allen! Dr. Allen works in urban pest management ...as a regional director for HomeTeam Pest Defense based in Florida. The interview details his story of what he does and why he became an entomologist. Props to our own James Wilson who conducted the interview on behalf of the Early Career Professionals of the Entomological Society of America.
Scientists from the University of Munich, , have conducted the first quantitative assessment of the speed and distance over which urban flower strips attract wild bees.
Doris Holmes Blake (1892-1978) was an entomologist and scientific illustrator who specialized in Chrysomelidae (leaf beetles). She began her career as a clerk f...or the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Bureau of Entomology and worked her way up to junior entomologist in the Department of Entomology, NMNH, Smithsonian Institution. A rule prohibiting more than one family member from working for the government forced Blake to resign in 1933 when her husband got a job at the USDA. But she continued her research unpaid, as an associate of the Smithsonian until her death in 1978. #BecauseOfHerStory #WomensHistoryMonth #WomenInSTEM
